Yeah epl seems to be very picky and wholly biased to academy players. Makes sense. Unless you are Haaland or CR7 type generational talent.

He is starting Gio....my guess is he will go 45 and get subbed off after half. Nearly my ideal lineup if Jedi were in camp. The midfield is going to be clogged up when Adams finally gets healthy. Either he or Weston is going to be left out depending on the opponent next summer in Copa. And assuming Gio can do something he hasnt figured out in staying healthy for long stretches.

I dont know how long Ream can keep going at 36. Right now he is IMO a clear starter at cb, but Carter Vickers needs a good bit of minutes this camp when and if age finally catches up with Ream.

under a pretty significant rebuild- it feels like they’re bringing in a club side coach to get them to a respectable place for when they host the Euros
Germany should have a slight talent edge but US should absolutely have schematic edge

Berhalter has no idea how to use Balogun. He just gets washed out.

And the stark difference between us playing Berhalter ball, and the Germans facing up and taking on defenders is unreal. Why cant we play this style. We dont take on anyone. Its constantly trying to pass out of traffic and cross.

A pretty significant difference in quality and style of play. The Germans should have 5-6 goals by now outside of Turner and the post saving 2-3. And this is mostly our top choice lineup. The back line was all out of sorts, especially the centerbacks.

The Germans turn and immediately look to take on the defender. Such a different style of play to Berhalter ball. We look to get the ball out wide and cross it back in. They look to attack the defense thats in front of them on their front foot. They looks for outlets moving forward. We desperately need to get away from Berhalter Ball.

Embarrassing day for Berhalter (coming off a less than impressive last window) and the USSF for deciding to keep him another cycle. Progress does not appear to be happening in any facet of the game.

I guess when Gio was in the score was 1-1 and he played well. Thats all I got. At least we can put that saga to bed.

I’m still behind (1-3 in 68’), but what’s distressing me is the backline - which was a strength- got unlocked so easily
Playing 4 or 5 across the back in a straight line in the 18’ — all Germany did was play horizontal across that looking for seams. And they found plenty
I couldn’t really spot the weak link, but imma guess it was Richards (who I think will be really good eventually)

Did also seem Musah was pretty feast or famine

Totally agree, I want Berhalter gone, yesterday......

They are passive, trying to play out of the back against a team pressing like crazy, his strategy played right into Germany's strengths. I don't think, talent wise, we are that far off.....coaching wise we are a disaster.....

Even aside from the occasional odd alignment and attack plan, we don’t seem to make in game adjustments well at all
Sometimes halftime adjustments are ok (not yesterday obviously, but rarely during flow of play (not adjusting to get balo more touches is bizarro)
Never was much of a Michael Bradley fan, but I thought he was a good captain/communicator on the field to help facilitate adjustments
And now I’m even more mad at gregggg for making miss anything about Michael Bradley

Does a poor showing against Ghana put him on the hot seat though? That would be 2 windows of what seems like a backstep from Nations League. You dont get to waste this generation of players twice, and if we let it ride through bunch of poor showings until Copa - weve waited too long in this cycle. If a move is going to be made (which it seems like USSF is perfectly happy with GGG) it needs to happen before Copa. I just dont feel like Berhalter can take this team any further that it is. We need someone with a different approach to the attack, and who can make tactical adjustments on the fly.

They way we play the attack, Id almost rather Pulisic at the 9 and Balogun wide. And thats almost ridiculous seeing as how Balogun is on year 2 of mostly dominating ligue 1.
