Guess he and staff decided they did not want it carrying over to next season. Maybe it is a sign that the staff feels there is a slim chance at salvaging anything this season.
 
Well, we either win the next 4 games and potentially make the playoffs with Vaccaro available, or he sits out these 4 games and is ready to go next season.

Or they have little to gain from letting this spill into next season. Depending on what happens with the draft, free agency, and player development, next year could be a return to prominence or Payton and company's swan song.
 
If that isn't a sign they are looking towards next year.

I also like the fact that It's hard to reward him to a new contract ext so that means we can wait until after 2017 season to see if he can continue playing at that level.
 
The positive side to being mediocre - no need to worry about jeopardizing your playoff tun with suspensions.

Silver lining is more PT for Von Bell I guess?
