Needless to say, with all the talk and hype that has gone into this year's draft I am left unimpressed with what the Saints have done so far. In my opinion there were so many other solid players the Saints could have went with the 28th pick in the fisrst round. And they go Peyton Turner??? The guy's tape is impressive but he seems like a carbon copy on Marcus Davenport. At least they didn't trade up to get him and I hope Turner works out but I have my doubts. Then the 2nd pick...Pete Werner...I'm not saying it was an awful pick but I would've went in another direction. The 3rd pick is actually one I do like out of them all..Paulson Adebo...I think he can prove to be a strong player when it's all said and done. Ian Book??? that's a meh pick for me...why go QB there when you have more pressing needs at WR? We always say in Loomis we trust but so far I may need to be reminded of that more often.

How so? Marquez Callaway was among the Saints best rookies last season, and I saw enough from him to believe that he could realistically become a starting caliber WR very soon.

TQS could really see his game takeoff with a more vertical passing game.

...and then you have to consider that there will be some veteran WRs set free after the draft and around June 1st, and the Saints should be active in that FA phase.
Get back to me when Michael Thomas get doubled, and our other WRs can’t get separation. Callaway MAY become something, and Harris needs less snaps, or he’ll get hurt again. We have no #2 WR. We have MT and a group of question marks at the WR position.

This draft can be really good but honestly, my expectations are guarded. I sorta feel like I did after the 2018 draft...and 2014 draft (sans Brandin Cooks).

If Sean and Mickey say scrambled eggs is the best way to eat eggs, some fans here would only order scrambled eggs the rest of their life. Some fans would insist over easy or their favorite version of cooked eggs are better. Some fans might reserve judgment and try every type of cooked eggs before making a decision. I’m not an egg expert so I say hell with that let’s smoke meat and drink.

I look at it like this, I’m a fan. Mickey and team are Pros. They generally have had good drafts. I too don’t like picks. I would have made much different decisions, but that’s why I’m in IT and not in the NFL.

Give it at least a year. I generally give them 3 years. Most of these guys will be able to sit behind other people and learn.

I agree 100%
But I fear saying anything because I will be called names and degraded and called a loser that never watches the saints that's not even a fan and I dont know sheet....
Oh sorry....off on a lil tangent....lol

Let me help you out here:

You don't know sheet. Aside from a tiny handful of posters on this site who are actually professionals or semi-professionals, nobody on this site knows half as much as they think. The people in NFL scouting departments have literally forgotten more about player evaluation than any of us have ever known. They get paid good money to go sit and watch specific teams and specific players for years and years. Someone sitting in their house watching highlight reels doesn't have anything on them.

And guess what? They still get it wrong as often as they get it right. The draft is, always has been, and always will be a gamble. There are far more players who were world beaters in college who became nobodies in the NFL than the other way around. Not every "slam dunk" first pick of the draft QB has panned out.

A lot of Saints fans were pissed off when they missed out on Mario Williams and got Reggie Bush instead. Neither of them had all that great of careers anyway. Good? Sure. Would they go #1 and #2 in a 2006 redraft? I'd say probably not. Every pick, even and especially in the first round, is a roll of the dice.

The thing is that I have been eating eggs longer than Sean or Mickey and I’ve been paid to give my opinions and impressions of various grades of eggs. While I don’t pretend to have the vast egg knowledge of the Saints front office, I do think that my observations have some validity. The discussions we have had here expressing a difference of opinion on the quality of certain eggs has often been as much about the gathering methodology as the eggs themselves. :ezbill:

I'm not mad this draft, it will show how great our scouting department is. I was a little puzzled by the Payton Turner pick but now I'm feeling like he will out perform Davenport in the near future js

I agree 100% with your assessment. I don't trust in Loomis for anything except money management. Players evaluations suck for the Saints. You can disagree but I don't care. People think they do deep evaluations then Payton admits in a interview that there are certain college programs that they have a lot of confidence in. Whatever

I won’t thrown anyone under the bus for saying anything negative about the draft. It’s how the fandom operates and just a fact of life.

That being said...
In Loomis We Trust!

I’m more disappointed in the Saints Report downers than the picks. The team is in transition and shed a ton of players due to the cap, but Saints fans from the gameday board infiltrate the main board on draft day every year and that will never change.
Yes the downer reporters make this the worst time of yr on here
