Vic Beasley Being Let Go (1 Viewer)

I wouldn't mind bringing him in on a 1 year prove it deal. Let Nielsen and the new LB'ers coach see what they can get out of him. Who knows, we may have better teachers on our defensive staff. He could blow it up next season. Maybe a change of scenery is what he needs. He would have better help around him on defense and could help him to be a better player. JMO.

There's obviously something behind the scenes that went on.
I heard that Quinn wanted to work with him personally before the season started, but Vic opted to work away from the team which didn’t sit well with Quinn

Dont doubt it. I made a joke on twitter that no one would go after Beasely but i could totally see us making a play on him for cheap. His rep has been shattered and production down. 1year deal, comes in and Nielsen squeezes some juice out of the fruit that the falcons couldn't.

He's going to have a huge chip on his shoulder and want to stick it to the Falcons after the way they handled this.

I think that's something that I'd look at if I were considering bringing him in. What's his motivation? It would be similar to the Nick Fairley situation- he was motivated to clear his name but also get that 2nd contract that had eluded him to that point because of his reputation. The right mixture can give you a very fiery individual..even if only for a year.

He was someone a lot of people here wanted when he came out. He was a talented player out of Clemson. I really don't know what are his issues or problems not playing well.

I was one of those. Appears I was wrong. I do remember that Stephen White was high on him too.

I could be wrong, I know he’s listed as a LB but didn’t he play a lot at DE. I know there was a few years when we played them he lined up at DE a lot. Is there a site that lists the amounts of snaps he had at LB and DE to see if he was being played out of position?

He's a pass-rush specialist. At least that's what he'd be on our defense at best.

At 6' 3" 246 lbs, he'd be 20 lbs lighter than Granderson and Davenport and an inch shorter than Hendrickson. He also lacks length with 32-1/2" arms. T-Rex has 32" arms and that's his biggest challenge on the field, OL can out reach him badly.

Beasley isn't the kind of edge rusher we seem to go for. I know everyone wants us to add a "speed" rusher to go with our Big, Long, Bullies, but SP and ML haven't made that a priority. Even if we wanted a smaller-faster DE, he'd only be on the field 30% of the time or so. I'd think we'd look to the draft to add a part time role like that. For the money.
