Yea Elway should be the one on the hot seat!
Why shouldn't he have been hired?Fangio never should have been hired as a HC in the first place, but firing him at this specific juncture doesn't accomplish anything positive and probably further tarnishes Elways's image as a GM a bit.
If Dennis Allen leaves, I want Ryan Nielsen to be the DC in New Orleans. Not Fangio. Give new blood the chance. Ask Fangio if he is interested as a consultant. Low pressure job in his old age.
Why shouldn't he have been hired?
I'm not buying that. We may lose him to another team as a DC but his experience in this league is minimal. Add to that the fact that OCs are the more desirable position to advance and I just don't see RN as an HC anytime soon.I was listening to Mike D on WWL today. He said we are going to lose Nielsen because he's going to be a HC very soon.
Elway keeps getting the QB thing wrong yet he change coaches as much as he changes his Drawz. Sometimes the answer to your problem is only a mirror away.
Maybe he should change his drawers more and his qbs/ coaches less.Elway keeps getting the QB thing wrong yet he change coaches as much as he changes his Drawz. Sometimes the answer to your problem is only a mirror away.
The saints have had three starting qbs who were pretty good. Manning, Hebert, and Brees. The years they have started comprises 31 years. Thats approximately 60%. Some of the others had potential and played better elsewhere, but had poor coaching , poor surrouinding talent, and bad front office management particularly in the Meacom days. It's been 5 years since Manning ....... there are plenty of teams out there that go decades trying to find their guy.
To casually say "Elway keeps getting the QB thing wrong" makes it sound as if it's easy to get it right.
In like 55 years, how many successful quarterbacks have been drafted by the Saints? It's pretty much only Archie Manning, right? Marc Bulger did well, but with another team.

Bigger Question, why isnt Elway under fire to be replaced?
