I read somewhere that the Saints reportedly have interest in Reed just like they did in AJ Brown a year ago.

Reed is almost a carbon copy physically of AJ Brown

Reed----6'0 224lbs 31 1/8" arms. 9 3/4 hands 4.47 40

( 77 receptions 19')

Brown--6'226lbs. 32 7/8 arms. 9 3/4 hands
4.49 40

(85 receptions 18')

When you watch their film they were used in similar ways at Tennessee and Virginia. On reverses and handoffs from the pocket.

Virginia struggled to protect it's QB just like Ole Miss did the year before so you might not be able to get a clear picture of just how good Reed is. When Perkins got a clean pocket he was able to hit Reed Cleanly for big plays. Reed was also explosive enough to return kicks.

Everyone knows about Michael Thomas's catch rate but not everyone is aware that Joe Reed's teammate Hasise Dubois had the highest catch rate (100%) of any wr in college last year with over 1000 yards.

Dubois is currently ranked UDFA.

This might be a re-do of temmates like Brown/Metcalf 19' but they enter the draft with a lot less fanfare.

Taking the Saints parallels one step further, QB Bryce Perkins might also have the makings of the Next Aaron Brooks.

He had over 7000 all-purpose yards the past two seasons as well as a 64% completion percentage

One final interesting note is that Hasise Dubois even had 10 catches for 130 yds and a TD vs #2-ranked Clemson and even caught this deep pass in tight coverage vs projected 1st rd cornerback AJ Terrell.

It should be noted that Terrell was also torched by Jamar Chase in the title game.

Man I'm loving this thread!

In all seriousness, I love both guys but would be higher on Dubois for this team than Reed.. because Joe needs a place where he can make an instant impact as a returner. That's not a need for us obviously.

Dubois has GLUE hands and reminds me very much of #12 (a touch smaller at 6-3, 215 - Colston was 6-4, 225 out of college). Similarly, he doesn't have blazing speed but I think he would've run in the low to mid 4.5s which is also what Marques ran. He would be an excellent tough possession receiver for us.

Love Bryce to death but don't see him sticking as a QB on an NFL roster.

You wouldn't happen to be a Cavaliers' fan by any chance, would you?

I was thinking Dubois was more similar to Mike Thomas because of his catch % and stature.

Dubois---6'3 215

Thomas---6'3 213

What is your take on CB, Bryce Hall?

Obviously his injury hurt his stock this off-season but I've seen him as high as a 2nd rounder based off his 2018 tape alone, and as low as 3rd/4th round.

A lot of people think he's mainly going to need to go to a Zone heavy team because they see him as more of a guy that needs to bail, and react from his pedal keeping things in front of him because of the perceived lack of foot speed and change of direction. He has good instincts and ball skills, I don't think he's a fit on the Saints because Allen plays a touch more man coverage on the outside, but I haven't watched a ton of tape on him.

that's a good comparison too - in stature & because he catches everything - but I think he plays smoother, more like #12 (it's hard for me to compare anyone to Mike because he just CAN'T BE GUARDED).

Just reading his name makes me so sad. When Bryce went down it was like flashback to Anthony Poindexter in the late 90s... another SUPER high character kid who should've gone pro but came back for a shot at college glory only to suffer a gruesome injury that cost him millions and ruined his career.

I fear the same for Bryce but I hope i'm wrong. He would've been top 10 or 15 pick easy before the injury. It all depends on his recovery and not having a pro day kills him. If he lasts until the 4th I would absolutely snatch him. Otherwise I think we have bigger needs.

I like Joe Reed a lot! I think he is more fluid than Brown and has the same ability to do some of the things that Deebo Samuel does for the 49’ners.

In an ideal world, the Saints would like to come away with two receivers and a lot of that will depend on how the board falls and especially on whether or not they opt for a QB in round 1 as I believe they could. But I say all that to say that Reed’s skill set would be a welcomed addition.
