It’s crazy how the Saints as a team has offered some very reasonable contracts only to watch some of these guys end up getting the same or less somewhere else because they wanted more.
It's because these guys think they can get more and have to settle for less cause the Saints don't wait.

I like our approach. We can't sit here and wait and miss out while waiting.

The byproduct of drafting well... beats other ootions.
That’s exactly right. Both players (Ingram and Bell) saw their contracts expire while their heir-apparent was already on the roster, and on a rookie deal. Great Point.
The thing is, in both cases, the veteran player was offered a very deal... that was equal or better than the deal they ended up with for their new team.

Actually I think the Ravens offered Ingram 1.5 million more guaranteed than what the Saints offered him.

Basically 5 million guaranteed vs 6.5 million guaranteed.

I'll tell you this: I don't think any other safety would have made Zeke fumble on that play at that certain moment by stripping the ball out as Zeke was going to the ground....I don't think any safety would have stripped that ball out of that Bears' player either.

It was in those moments where I thought to myself, "damn if we didn't have Vonn Bell on that play, I don't think we would've caused a turnover"

Surprising 10 career INTs so far.

I hate losing Bell. ALWAYS around the ball, seemly was picking up every fumble and returning it.
My thoughts too. With the way many here seem to not see it that way, and value Marcus way more than I do, perhaps I am imagining it all. Lol

I think Underhill summed it up pretty well. He has fantastic range and he makes a lot of plays other safeties can’t.

But he also makes some bad mistakes. And unfortunately, they seem to come at the worst times. So people remember them more than the good things.

Overall, he’s a good safety. And I think having someone back there like Jenkins who is a vet and a little better in coverage may help.

I think Jenk will help too.
Just don’t recall seeing too many positive game changing plays form Marcus. But it matters not what I or anyone else feels about him as a safety. We will all root for him as he’s a Saint.

Jenkins wasnt the player he is today when the saints let him go in FA.
He did an interview where he spoke and re dedicating himself to the game and learning a lot more under the coaches with Philly.

The same may happen for bell. He is a good player, Jenkins was considered good. But a change of scenery and different personal might elevate his game.

Plus, he should be excited, he might be playing with Burrow. Thats a upgrade over Brees. Flame away.
This is one of the most confusing posts I have read on here. Read it 3X. Still have no idea if this is sarcasm.
