You misspelled Mothra.

Mothra was a weak monster. To have it defeat Godzilla was just stupid. If celebrating Christmas is the celebration of Mothra, forget it.

Does anyone really care about this? Isn't Christmas about shopping and spending money now? Do you need to keep Christ in Christmas since Jesus was born in April anyway? Some people think it's a satanic day.

My guess is Wal-Mart is catering to their key demographic. The vast majority of their 100 million customers are shopping for Christmas presents. In addition, I have to believe a large majority of the remaining 140 million customers shop for Christmas presents. Of the 60 millions that aren't shopping at Wal-Mart...I would think that's where you'll find you largest groups of people who don't care about the Christmas holiday.

In the United States, it has been reported that eighty percent of residents of the United States shop at Wal-Mart at least once a year.[36] And each week, 100 million customers visit Wal-Mart's U.S. stores - "more than one-third of the U.S. population."

Maybe so. But do they realize they're potentially celebrating a decidedly anti-Christian holiday?

I'll buy food and some goods at Wal-Mart out of necessity, but I won't buy Christmas presents there. Don't care what I'm greeted with or what's on the banners. Have no problems celebrating Christmas without the encumbrance of religion.

Regardless of how it came to be, or who chose Dec. 25th as the date to celebrate Christ's birth, it is now a Christian celebration. Walmart's PC stance in the recent past was offensive to Christians and drew responses and comments from them.
I am not saying that the commercialism is correct, however it has been a part of the season for as long as I can remember. What is important is that the negativity of the PC has been defeated in this case and the real meaning of the season is not ignored.
As always, no intention to offend anyone, and I will not be drawn into a debate about my statements and beliefs....and feel no need to justify them beyond this posting for any who choose to attack, question or contradict it.

Meanwhile, in Britain...

"Anything we find in the boxes which has a religious nature will be removed. If a box was opened by a Muslim child in a Muslim country they may be offended so we try to avoid religious images.

Christian charity Samaritan's Purse fears anything relating to Jesus may offend Muslims

It is a Christian charity bringing Christmas cheer to needy children abroad.

So its decision to ban Jesus, God and anything else connected with its own faith has been greeted with little short of puzzlement.

Operation Christmas Child, run by the charity Samaritan's Purse, sends festive packages to deprived youngsters in countries ravaged by war and famine.

Donors are asked to pack shoeboxes with a cuddly toy, a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap and flannel, notepads, colouring books and crayons - but nothing to do with Christmas.

I find that funny and sad at the same time.

Seems the chairman of Samaritan's Purse agrees with you, Jim. He was not happy:

"Franklin Graham, president and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse, immediately reiterated to staff around the world that “Samaritan’s Purse is unashamedly a Christian organization and Operation Christmas Child is a distinctively Christian kid’s project."

SAMARITAN’S PURSE STATEMENT ON
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD, UK

Recently, a media story from London reported that the Operation Christmas Child organization in the UK was removing Christian or Christmas-themed materials it collects for distribution to needy children around the world.

Such a practice is inconsistent with the global mission, policies, and practices of Operation Christmas Child and Samaritan’s Purse, the international Christian relief organization which has conducted the annual Christmas project for the past 13 years.
