I'm in the market for a nice mens watch. I haven't worn a watch on my wrist for over twenty five years, but I think I want one to "look cool" when dressing up a bit. There are an infinite amount of choices out there, so I thought I'd poll my peeps. Looking for style, not necessarily function. What cha got?

Unfortunately the poster who used to like to talk about $50k watches doesn’t seem to post anymore

As for me, my phone tells time so I don’t really do watches anymore

It depends what do you mean by "dressing up". Do you mean suit? not jeans? Collared shirt? Or one-style-fits-all type of watch?

I'm a fan of a good moonphase complication. I wear this one:

It's moderately priced and clean looking automatic (and I don't know where you are in your journey, but a mechanical movement is a must if you're going for "nice").

You can go up from there. I like this RGM model. They're one of the only US luxury watch companies that also uses a US-built movement:

The "next step up" that I'm eyeing is this Jaeger-LeCoultre, but it's a bit much for now.

There are some watch guys on here. I think @zeetes might be, IIRC.

I hate to ask, but budget does matter. There are probably good options across various price points but it's silly to be talking $250 watches when you had $2,500 in mind, or $25k. Or vice-versa.

And to add to this, I would say if you're not looking at $1000+, then the best bang for your buck would be a smart watch of some sort for $300. It'll do a lot more and people will think it's "cooler" than a $500 quartz movement watch.

This is a good post - shows that you can find a certain look or feature that you like, and then it's available with quality options across a pretty nice price range (you can spend $1,800 for the Ball or $30K for the RGM).

I also like the Ball because they use Swiss movement, but they're an American company (USA! USA!)

That's pretty. Very clean design.

I have a black band watch that I got years ago, don't wear it too much - it comes off as pretty formal. I wear my metal band explorer-style watch every day but want a brown-band alternative. The Panerai is awesome. Pricey though.
