We are 1-2, and we have not looked good, but the sky is not falling. (3 Viewers)

Seriously what has the offense done the in the last 3 games besides the falcons collapsing in the 4th quarter and gifting us a W. They can’t move the ball, if they actually by miracle start to move it, they cough it up by interception or fumble. They had no rhythm or consistency the whole game. So, yeah that 12:31 was garbage time Dow by 6.
Yep, no chance the Saints could win. Hell, why even show up at all, just forfeit all the games. I don't know why some of yall are even fans at this point. I get constructive criticism and wanting your team to be the best, but essentially the whole 4th quarter is garbage time because you're down by 6?

As far as the Saints go, yes, the sky is falling. Can we turn some things around? Sure! But where does that come from?

Come on man! We have all watched this game for years and years. When a team has this many position groups in disarray, you have major problems. As bad as Winston has been, and he’s been worse than any QB dissecting pressure and against pressure (according to PFF), our coaches have been worse than him.

Our OL has some issues, not as much is their fault as people like to say. But still, there are issues

Our QB has been awful, due to coming off an injury, no Sean, lack of chemistry, lack of confidence or whatever

Or RB room has been terrible

Our Sp Teams units are bad

Our team is undisciplined as much as we’ve seen since 2005

Our offensive coordinator is struggling to adjust, you can see he’s trying to get balls down the field to better suit Jameis, but that’s not really an adjustment. If he can’t adjust his scheming and play calls then we need to adjust by personnel. Play Dalton. Heck idk if it will be any better, but he better suits this lame duck offense that Pete is calling

That’s a whole lot of stuff. The only thing you can come up with is we have a serious coaching problem. I think we have quality coaches, but we just don’t have a head coach, right now. DA hasn’t been able to grab the team and pull them together to get it all going in the same direction.

Idk if it’s because he tried too hard to be a “players coach” with the relaxed atmosphere or what. But right now all of our failures start with him and then work their way down.

We have looked bad, mostly on offense. The D has not been perfect, but they have been good enough to win.

Also we actually outgained CAR from LOS by 133yrds.

I know the easy target is Winston, and he disserves a lot of flak, but to me the glaring weakness that makes our play-calling, QB play, etc, moot, is the O-Line. Pretty much outside of a quick "dink and dunk" attack, I do not see much we could consistently execute.

The left side has been horrific and I am not sure there is a fix. If Penning can come back, and if he is ready to be a full time LT at this level, then we can slide Hurst to LG and the line should look infinitely better. That is a thin hope though, and even then we would have no depth... one injury away from a dysfunctional line again. Ram is already dinged, and not really playing like we expect from him.

Anyway, the issues with the team was not the point of this post. It was the 1-2 start to the season and the corresponding assumption that we are headed for a league worst finish.

How many times in the Payton era did we go 1-2 (or worse) in the first 3 games of the season?

2007- We actually started 0-3 (0-4 actually), and ended up 7-9, missing the playoffs.
Colts 10-41
Bucs 14-31
Titans 14-31

2008- Started 1-2, ended up 8-8, missed the playoffs again.
Bucs 24-20
Redskins 24-29
Broncos 32-34

2012- Started 0-3 (0-4 again), ended up 7-9, and missed the playoffs.
Redskins 32-40
Panthers 27-35
Chiefs 24-27

2014- Started 1-2, again 7-9, missing the playoffs.
Falcons 34-37
Browns 24-26
Vikings 20-9

2015- Started 0-3... yeah 7-9, and a theme in missing the playoffs.
Cards 19-31
Bucs 19-26
Panthers 22-27

2016- 0-3, 7-9, missed playoffs, rinse repeat
Raiders 34-35
Giants 13-16
Falcons 32-45

2017 1-2, 11-5, Lost in divisional round of playoffs.
Vikings 19-29
Patriots 20-36
Panthers 34-13

2020 1-2, 12-4, Lost in the divisional round of playoffs.
Bucs 34-23
Raiders 24-34
Packers 30-37

Now most of those results will not build a lot of confidence in the Super Bowl or bust crowd, but a team with our O-Line play is not a contender, period.

Mostly I threw those results out there to show how many times we started the season looking like the sky was falling... and it simply was not.

Know what we never did in any of those years posted? Start the season with 3 straight divisional games. Closest we came to that was 2015. Divisional games are a different breed of game.

I'm trying to think as optimistic as possible...hopefully, we will see a different team come Sunday morning. If the Saints don't turn it around starting this weekend, then this season will be everything but over.

Geaux Saints!

Then you’d know that the only reason the Saints were within one score is because the Saints managed two score at the very end of the game (garbage time). Why play stupid and waste both of our time?

There was no garbage time in this game.
