Wether we acknowledge the fact or not, we have been spoiled by Drew Brees’ near 2 decades of dominance in the black and gold.

Not even speaking on today’s showing, but every backup that has come up in relief of Drew has not been on his level, and it’s been noticeable.

It is going to be depressing when Drew is no longer licking his fingers on the field for us.

Of course, but Im encouraged by Payton learning to coach us to wins without Brees too.
If we end up with even average qb play we can succeed with this squad
That might be true, but the odds of that quarterback being the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL is highly unlikely.

I can see how you can say that we’re spoiled. But consider the following:

We’re witnessing the building of a dynasty.

After Montana departed, many doubted that Steve Young could continue the winning legacy of the 49’ers.

They were wrong. Like the DeBartolos, the Saints have:

* a strong front office
* great ownership that respects & trusts
* an excellent coaching staff
* excellent trailers & training facilities
* a great negotiation process (when other parties
are reasonable)
* phenomenal scouting
* having a knack for taking BPA in the draft

I see the Saints in the upper tier of NFL teams into the foreseeable future.

Before we start throwing around the word dynasty I'd love to see us get another Lombardi and keep this team together around salary cap hell that is coming.

You are 100% correct.

It's going to be a precipitous drop in play at the quarterback position.

No doubt.

Everyone is upset now when the QB under center can’t get to 2nd or 3rd read fast enough.

I get it but as hard as elite QBs are to find, what percent of starters in the league at a given time can even get to their 3rd option?

We are indeed spoiled.

I haven’t been spoiled. I just don’t understand why Tyson doesn’t pull the trigger faster and why he throws into double coverage. Why doesn’t he just throw for over a 70% completion average and throw 40 TDs and 9 interceptions. Call me crazy but wouldn’t that be easier than not being the greatest ever?

When Taysom runs it in from the 11yd line you clearly see the drop off. Smh

Listen, no one is Drew Brees. But even Brees has limitations that other QB’s don’t have. It will be a different game moving forward. But it doesn’t have to mean less W’s in the win column. That’s why we have a great coach.

I'm all about giving Taysom a full 4 game tryout. But I think the idea that we are just spoiled is nonsense. That was awful yesterday, and I don't care if we had Matt Ryan as our QB until now, we'd still be complaining, and it would be justified. Has nothing to do with being spoiled.

The thing is, there is only ONE drew brees. What we are witnessing is average QB play like most teams have. We have seen greatness at Qb for years that we expect above average when we see a qb play. As much as i like him..Taysom, nor wintson is that. They are an average qb.

you're proving OP's point
spoiled is having the GoAT at QB and considering that 'normal'
Drew is now the baseline for how we thinking about QBs and everyone that tries to replace him in the next 10-15 years will pale in comparison
