We could trade up to get Dorsey.. (1 Viewer)

I've seen that alot lately.

I keep telling myself that it will never happen.
I said the samething about the Texans passing on Reggie too.

drafttek.com's mock has that too.
There is no way the Bengals let Dorsey go, so it would have to be the Ravens we trade up to. The Bengals would be on the phone too, along with probably a lot of other teams.
Our first and third are worth 1520 points and Ravens first is 1486.
It really could happen:
1. C Long
2. J Long
3. M Ryan
4. S Ellis
5. R Clady
6. D McFadden
7. V Gholston
8. Saints trade up for G Dorsey

If Pats and Ravens are targeting a cb, I could see them dropping to #10 in a trade. I doubt any of the DTs will reach them to warrant a trade though. Some reason I have a feeling Matt Ryan will slide out of the top 10 also unless he shines on his pro day. Maybe we could entertain trade offers knowing the Panthers or Bears after us would love to pick him up.

I really believe the ones who are putting it out there about Dorsey's injury are teams picking 5 thru 32.

According to the point chart you can get from 10 to 8 for a fourth but certainally Cincy would offer their 4th and get there before us. I think we would have to do a 3rd.

As far as I can tell, this is what the Saints will do. I would not let either Dorsey or Ellis go and I would give up a lot to move up and go get them. Especially Dorsey. I'm a Homer. The only thing that would change this is if the Saints traded for haynesworth.

The more we all think about it, in order to get to the "next level," we need to sign or draft a premier DT....so I hope Saints mgmt feels the same way, and does "WHATEVER IT TAKES" to get the quality of a Sedrick Ellis or a Glenn Dorsey.

Then you can bet we'll be pumped up like we were after Reggie was drafted.

My main fear in trading up to get Dorsey is that they'll be trading a 3rd, and there's no way Payton will go through the first 4 rounds without drafting an offensive player, so instead of getting the corner we need, we'll be getting a tight end and go into the season with a bunch of bad corners.

The Chiefs at #5 are likely very interested in getting extra picks. Like they said on NFLN last night, they are in total rebuilding mode and need as many picks as possible to fill the gaping holes all over the team. The Saints would find a willing partner there.

What supports this idea that they want to build through the draft? They have done almost nothing in free agency, having signed only 1 player, a backup linebacker. They can still get the massive road grader OT they want lower in the draft, according to Mike Mayock.

All this injury stuff sounds like a smoke screen and I hope that Payton and Loomis are fanning the fire. I would love to have Dorsey on this team like the article says he elevates the people around him.

I think with all the holes we've filled on defense (CB, MLB, OLB, pass rushing DE), we may be looking to move up. We could still use an OLB for when Dan Morgan gets hurt, but IMO we need a great DT even more.
