We Just Hired the former Browns DC Joe Woods (merged) (1 Viewer)

We just hired a "yes man" for what has been a defense ranked in the top-10 for years.

Stop complaining about defensive hires, because DA has proven himself on that side of the ball.

The offense is the only thing we should be worried about at this point.
That’s not the point, we’ve had more changes on a top 5 defense that we should. Especially when our bottom 5 offense has had no changes. That’s why everyone is upset.

Dennis Allen is the defensive coordinator and one of the best. This guy is an experienced, competent defensive football coach. I don’t get all the hate. We’re lucky to get anyone decent without being able to offer playcalling privledges.
There going to complain because they do not want DA as head coach not because they have first hand knowledge of these coaching hires. DA filled those positions fast but I think we are all waiting to see what changes come on Offense as the Defense is in good hands but we still have not hired a TE Coach (run game coordinator) so there are probably some configurations yet to be made on the offensive side.

Defense took way too long to get going last season. I don't care how they "finished" they were terrible when it counted. Only when the season was on the brink did they start playing better. There was 0 excuse for Patterson to smash the Saints for like 200 yards on opening day. Then, you let a bad panthers team move the ball on you when it counted the most. There was defensive lapses in the most critical points against the Vikings where you had to get a stop and couldn't.

This defense rarely finishes games when they're on the line.

We aren't hiring a play calling coordinator and you already knew this.
So, if he is so good with the secondary, why would he be needed as DC? Whether the DC is the actual play caller on gameday, he is a significant part of the game plan and overall coordination of the defense. Wood has been very good as a position coach and mixed at best as a coordinator.

Because we need a DC and he has experience at the position. Woods has had success there in the past.
