Make no mistake, Payton is fapping to Burrow highlights but in order to get him we would have to give up a championship caliber team to groom a QB. It isn't happening.

Seriously, you would have to trade Brees to a team like the Broncos to get a high first round pick. Then you would have to trade someone like Cam Jordan and Michael Thomas to the Bengals along with your existing 1st round pick, your newly aquired first round pick and pretty much the rest of your draft. It isn't happening.


That's nice and all but we weren't moving up from the 20's. Also Williams was a RB, this is a QB that has quickly become one of the best QB prospects in a very long time.

Giving up our entire draft may get the Bengals to pick up the phone to laugh.

But why would you assume giving Bengals the call when you can pull a KC Chiefs and call the team before the Bengals like the Chiefs did with the team before us when we were slotted to pick Mahomes

Ask any NFL GM which position transfers the least from college to pro. He will tell you QB and a distant second CB. The positions that do transfer is OL DL and punter. So if you want a sure pick in an early round build the line that an average, later round college qb might excel in. And if he doesn’t excel use your resources on a proven free agent qb. The top qb’s in the league today, TB 6 round, DB 2’nd round, Russell Wilson 3rd round, possibly the goat Joe Montana 3rd round. There are dozens of high pick qbs that were bust but only because they were so beaten up their early years because they played behind lousy lines.

That's probably the biggest obstacle.

Cincy getting Ohio native Burrow. It's a natural fit. Huge draw, butts in the stands.

But truthfully I'd give up the next 5 first round picks to get him.

He's a generational talent. Think Mahomes.
