Why let reality get in the way of a good story, right? How many of his base even care that he’s an idiot?

Well, considering the fact that illegal immigrants commit the tiniest fraction of violent crimes compared to American citizens, crime will rise per capita nationwide if his wall ever gets built. The GOP might want to reconsider Trump's "wisdom" with the "theme for the republican party" (which I'm pretty sure he doesn't just get to decide on his own and delegate via tweet).

ETA: I can't believe the GOP is allowing the entire government to hang on this crazed idiot's only care in the world - his ego wall. Really is forking pathetic that not a single one of them will stand up to this buffoon.

While they probably would dig deeper, it wouldn't be as feasible. The deeper you dig, the more dangerous and expensive it becomes to do so. At some point it becomes more feasible to explore other options than digging a tunnel. I don't necessarily think a wall across the entire border is needed, but it could be useful across some areas. There already are natural barriers and fences across the border, so simply upgrading areas that most need it seems more prudent than walling off the entire border.

What really needs to happen more than building a wall is reforming the existing immigration laws and resolving the legal status of those in limbo who have been productive and law abiding residents for the past 10 years or so.
There is already enough wall/fence/structure in areas that need it. Anyone who says different is telling you something for another reason and while deeper, bigger or taller might limit some, the problem we have with drugs is through the mail or legal means of entry and the problem we have with illegals is people who come in legally and overstay. Neither of those are fixed by a giant, offensive wall.

Immigration reform is needed. A wall is not.

Maybe Zinke’s buds when they are done rebuilding Haiti’s power grid will get to work on the wall.

Just drop that in the bucket with the other 7300+ lies he's told since taking office. But his supporters will believe anything so he keeps saying anything.
Bald faced lie.
With the evil Dems who don’t care about border security blocking the funds required to build the wall, it’s amazing he was able to dig deep and get this project started.

"under construction now"?
For an interactive explanation

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/01/05/us/border-wall.html

Existing fence has been replaced or repaired. 120 ish have been already authorized to be built. New and replacement. And I guess 40 have been built (replacement only), with 60 ish going to start soon. Feb will see 14 or 19 miles of new extended barriers. So, in a month, the first additional barriers will be started.

Trump wants at least 1000 miles of wall

Also, specifically the current law only allows the current wall designs, not the concrete wall trump wants.

Which Dems are “evil”? How do you define evil?

The democratic house just passed an additional 1.6 billion for border security. What funding are they blocking?

What project did he start?
