You'll think this is strange.
I just remembered that I have (had?) relatives in New Orleans!
My uncle (mom's brother) drove a bus for many years and lived in New Orleans. He would come up here to Stonewall (occasionally bringing his son(s)) to tend to some rental properties that he owned. This would have been in the 1970s so all the details are rather sketchy to me.
Anyway, my mom rarely mentions him and seemed not to like it when I saw him. He was always very nice to me (as was his son) and I enjoyed watching them work. One year my mom took me to New Orleans and we had a rare visit with my Uncle and Aunt. I think I remember him taking me to an airport to look at his airplane (I think it was a J3 Cub).
My mom went back to not liking him after that, a common theme with her and most of my relatives back then. She wonders why I don't know all of my relatives now, she forgets that there were times as a kid that I wasn't allowed contact with various aunts and uncles for months at a time.
In any case, my uncle died in the late 70s or very early 80s. If you knew
