What a surprise! NFL discussing possibly taking action on teams if they feel "gamed the system" in regards to compensatory picks (1 Viewer)

The thing is, how can you even prove intent in a case like this? (even though we are following the rules). Maybe we were thinking of drafting a certain QB and then signed Winston when we couldn't draft that person?

Might as well go ahead and wait another week or two before officially signing Winston. Leak some BS about how the two can't work out the money, offset language, or some other irrelevant fluff. Then do the deal.
Exactly.

Just do away with the compensatory picks and add more rounds to the draft.
Agree 100%. They should stop rewarding teams for making the financial decisions to move on from players. It has led to teams "gaming" the system for year. There are 32 compensatory picks given out annually. They should just add an 8th round.

If the NFL wants to change the rule the fair method would be to do it after this offseason so that all teams will be aware of it and it's consequences prior to making decisions on when to sign free agents.

Let's make a list.

(1) Sudden-death overtime
(2) Kitty for good defensive plays equals "bounty system"
(3) "Gaming" the comp pick rules

What else?
We're the reason you can't dunk on the goalpost. And I think Mike Thomas is why you can't use props.

(6) Coach challenge on Pass Interference

Anything else?
