What about Tua ?

I'd like to grab Tua but I wouldn't give up significant resources to grab him. He has serious question marks. Mainly about health. This isn't his only injury. His play still has questions also because he hasn't been able to finish seasons and play in big games.

If he falls I'd absolutely grab him. I don't know if a top 15 move is worth it. If your thinking top 10 or 5, might as well push for Burrow.

Yeah but we don't really have the WR depth to move Michael Thomas to QB.

I hear Thomas throws like a girl anyway, so...

But Tua? Small guy, seems fragile. Only watched him play 2-3 times, no gage in his accuracy or pocket skills. If he can hit tight NFL windows, I would take a 3rd round flier on him.

I think a consideration, on Tua, is what adjustments it takes to change to a left handed QB. From OL's complete reversal to WRs adjusting to a completely different pass. I certainly have faith in MT adjusting, but w/the continuing WR problems, there is a concern.

I don't really care if he is drafted, but w/the emergence of Tannehill (after escaping the black hole of MI) & Bridgewater's performance, there may be "reclamation" options out there that we are unaware of.

Burrows would be a luxury that could destroy the franchise, regardless of his talent. Remember what happened for 3 years after we lost 2 2nd round picks in a row? Make it 2 1sts, add more picks, lose a couple of our best players(+ the FA losses) & we could be looking @ multiple losing seasons, before being able to restock.

I think Galette and Byrd messed up those year more than the picks. Really it was a perfect storm of all 3. No cap room without players to show for it and lacking draft picks (along with really bad drafting).

A Burrow trade would be risky. And may take time to recover but you would at least have a cheap QB to help open up the cap.

PFT said because of dead cap 23m we can’t sign both brees and t-hill :-(. Saddens me indeed to lose either.
I want to see that PFT report. Unless they think someone is signing Taysom Hill for north of $10 million or something ... the team can afford to keep both guys. Maybe they forgot that Teddy Bridgewater's salary is freed up.

Kind of depends on Brees, too, though. If he insists on $30 million or something ... well, no, that wouldn't work.

FYI...the cost of a 1st round RFA tender is an estimated $4.7 million on over-the-cap.com. The cost shouldn't approach $10 million unless there was a crazy bidding war.

I haven't seen anything about Ehlinger declaring for the draft, but he'd be a good 3rd-4th round pick if he comes out. He played high school at Westlake and would be a good candidate to sit behind Drew for a season to work out some of the few remaining kinks he has left.

Burreux will likely require a Ricky Williams like ransom at the least to land.

I'm not even sure what our current draft positioning is , but I'd imagine getting Tua would be alot easier.

Every season it happens , we all fall in love with a Quarterback who's going to be all world and the year after that hes old news.

Dude is nice , but how many of those sure fire guys end up disappointments?

To me it's more about the system , coaching , protection, development and weapons around a given QB than it is about just the quarterback.

Also I'd like to remind folks that a healthy Tua probably makes this last year look much different in terms of Heisman and National Championships go. At the very least he makes it interesting to ponder.

If Drew ain't trying to hang em up just yet , Tua can continue to recover and develop. Sean gets to me what would be the equivalent of Joe Burrow for alot less of a sacrifice with a still in tact roster around him.

I here what your saying, and I def agree Tua is a lot more obtainable. I also love him as a QB prospect and think he is going to do a lot of good things in the NFL.

I will say this

The tape doesnt Lie when you watch Joe Burrow. He is the most polished QB coming out of the draft in a long time.

Mentally and physically.

Do you wanna know what makes Clemson so good?

I'll tell you

Clemson has been Soooo good over the past years bc, unlike 99 percent of college defenses Clemson disguises their coverage.

Most college defenses are pretty vanilla. They rely on their talent to make plays due to athletic ability. The NCAA has so many rules that prevent players from watching as much film as it takes to fully break down opposing players tendencies.

That's a huge reason why it takes many rookie QB's in the NFL 3 or 4 years for the game to truly slow down for them.

See Sam Darnold against the Patriots this year. That's why he said he was seeing ghosts. The patriots were disguising their coverage to the point to were Sam Darnold had NO idea what kind of coverage they were in.

That's what makes Joe so special!

Not only is he one of the most accurate college QB's we have ever seen. Not only is he one of the only college QB's that we have ever seen fully understand how to make anticipatory throws.

Joe already knows how to read defenses and make adjustments Post-Snap and Pre-Snap. It's almost Uncanny!

That's why Clemson destroyed Alabama last year, and it's also a huge reason why this LSU Tiger team will go down as the Best team in College Football history at the moment.

Pat McAfee has a video literally talking about this very same thing

He has a lot more to work out than a "few remaining kinks", and I'm the biggest Texas fan on this site. I don't think he's an NFL QB. He's not always super decisive, he's not great at reading defenses, and he's not the most accurate. Some of that can be fixed, but I think some of it is just who he is. He does generally take care of the ball, can make some throws, and is very mobile in the pocket and can beat you with his legs too. But I don't know that he's got an NFL QB arsenal.

He's already announced he's returning to Texas next year.

I appreciate your assessment. You're my go-to when it comes to honest evaluations of Longhorns.

Sorry but no GM worth their job can invest a lot of draft capitol in Tua. Even if he's a good QB, there's no way we holds up over the years. He's injury prone with a dominant o-line and all the advantages that Alabama provides him over everyone else. He's screwed in the real NFL.
