He’ll get more PT than Callaway this year and Harris. Just watch he’s the most flexible among those 3 he’s a Jack of all trades but special at nothing . He can play the 1,2 or 3 he’s a great blocker, understands his assignments.

Surely you are joking. TQS hasn't put up more than 448 yds and no more than 5 TDs in the 4yrs he has been here, with Drew throwing him the ball. I do not share your optimism.

Thats a great point. Callaway had 698 yards and 6 TDs on 46 receptions in just his 2nd year.

I'm not getting in the way of you looking foolish. By all means regale us with your wisdom. I see no interest in our wager. So much for you as "the big baller shot caller" you fancy yourself.

He is slow on flim. What are you talking about? Then cue up the tape of CGM doing anything vertical..............ever!!! It is his percise route running, and contested catch ability that gets him open.

Straight line speed is vastly overrated, CGM is sneaky quick and that combined with (yes, you are correct here), precise route running and his ability to win contested catches and there is no reason he can't make the occasional deep catch.

It's not his game, that is true, but it's not strictly because of his 40 time....

Lol, yeah, TQS struggled that who hame! BUT in Smith’s defense, it was his first game back after missing significant time in TC, n thru the first 5 games of the regular season.

Meanwhile, whether u liked Jameis or not, we ALL got to see a “different side” of Winston we’d never seen before! He went OFF on TQS, n showed some ANGER n PASSION! But later, he went back to TQS for a critical catch, and afterwards , Winston shrugged off the incident, sayn it was jus part of the game.

The very next week, he went back to TQS in the 1st quarter for a big TD catch against TB! :

For now, I’m good with keepin TQS for a few reasons. He’s probably the most versatile WR we have n can play all 3 spots. He knows the system. He can block. We got him back for cheap. And last offseason, he n Winston spent lotsa time working out together. So there MIGHT b a lil chemistry in place to build on.

Personally, I like goin into TC with MT, Jarvis, CO, Quez, Deonte, n TQS as our top 6 WR core. It’s a nice blend of physicality n quickness/speed. We also have lotsa other WRs who’ll get a look see n a chance to make the team. IF they can beat out TQS, so b it.

We’ll see.

See, these are the issues I have when people regurgitate this kind of stuff. IF he was so versatile, then why has he not taken the next step? Versatility could allow coaches to create mismatches for you. He’s not a mismatch for any defender. He struggled with the playbook his rookie year and I still think he has issues with it. Idc if he can block. That guy (in particular) needs to be a viable threat in the passing game before anything. I personally expect 90% of WRs in the league to be decent blockers max. If they are more than decent blockers, then that’s an added bonus, on top of how they perform as a pass catcher. Dude has been on our team for 4 years and really hasn’t made any kind of impact. For a team that has dominated the NFC South, with SB aspirations, had he taken another step, then maybe we could have gotten further than we did each year. Don’t care if he’s cheap, he is lucky to have a gotten that cheap contract.

First of all, I really love havn some “lemon”in my Sweet T!

😂.🤣 😂

But seriously tho, it wasn’t me, but the SAINTS, under new HC Dennis Allen at that, who resigned TQS to a 2yr deal, worth up to 6 mil! If TQS was soo bad like folk like you say, then WHY on gods green earth, did THEY even do it???

At the LEAST, I think it was an “insurance policy” a case of better to have him n not need him than need him n not have him.

But its also juuus possible the Saints know a lil more about TQS than fans do!

Here’s a part of an article I found:

“Smith has struggled to adapt to the role of a possession receiver after impressing as a vertical threat in college at Central Florida, though some of that is due to a late-career Drew Brees being unable to hit him far downfield. Smith put in a lot of work with Jameis Winston last summer and looked to be his go-to receiver once Michael Thomas went out for the season, but a training camp hamstring injury derailed those plans. Maybe he shakes it off and finally breaks out in 2022.”

Well, obviously they signed him before we got Olave and Landry. So, it’s kinda clear that he was only a fall back-back-option😆. The better question is……if he is so good, then why draft Olave and then sign another WR in Landry? Another question….if he is so good, then why let him attempt to test Free Agency??? If you had a guy who could play every WR position /knows the playbook, great blocker/etc….then why is he not a high priority? Why let him go out an seek other opportunities? Seriously, 4 years with us, and the best anyone can say is that he’s a great blocker. He should be listed as a WB (Wide Blocker) then. Just drop the Receiver part bc he didn’t do much of that in 4 years. Idk, maybe he can get on the field and sneak pass the defenses this year, when our other receivers are being guarded or something. That happens to him occasionally. Maybe it can happen more often now that we have a good group of WRs. I know, that’s pretty harsh, but it’s just how I feel. He’s probably an amazing dude and I honestly wanted him to be what we needed, but after 4 years, I can’t say that I have any faith in his play.

Now see, we already found a level of agreement. We both basically said the same thing, that with future moves uncertain, signing TQS would serve as a back up plan/insurance policy.

But you ain’t gonna get much pushback in us drafting Olave n signing Jarvis. Das because last year, we were dead LAST in passing O! Havn 4 different starters at QB didn’t help. But the biggest complaint about our ALL of our WRs was their inability to get separation! So we needed a major upgrade at WR. So the SAINTS team AND fans wanted to see us take a WR in da 1st rd! The Saints took it a step further by moving up to draft Olave. Jarvis Landry ain’t the biggest r fastest, but I’m sure lotsa teams would love to him. Not only did we sign him, we got a “hometown discount” too!

I AGREE that after 4 yrs, TQS has been a disappointment. I AGREE dat some of that has been on HIM! Not a be all, end all, but I thought the USA Today article offered some “reasoning” behind his lack of production as a pro
so far too.

For the first time in his career as a Saint, I think TQS is gonna have to FIGHT for his job. But IF he’s healthy, I tellin ya, don’t be surprised if he makes the 53 n plays well this season.

But we’ll see

As of right now, I’m doubtful that TQS is a top 5 WR on this team. But stuff happens. I’m not counting the CGM egg until it hatches. It’d be stupid to dump him at this point.
Lol, yeah, I hear ya! 👍🏾

Now I could be wrong on this, but I think CSP has kept 6 WRs before. Meanwhile, along with MT, there’s Jarvis and 1st rd pick CO, giving Jameis 3 new n talented players he has to work n develop chemistry with. So for now, you keep TQS

Well you know it's dead offseason time when there is a 9 page thread on obstensively a depth signing.....a depth signing that is familiar with our system already....one that is not even guaranteed to make the team....

He also had his best game of the season the last game....probably didn't hurt....
