I think this is the most likely, because they CAN afford him this year. I think if Deuce has a limited season in any way, they'll approach him about a cut next year, and honestly I think he'd be agreeable...sadly, there likely wouldn't be any other teams who would pay him more, either. Personally I say pay him the rest of his contract because he's earned it , but we all know, Deuce included, that this is a business...yet, I have to believe/hope that there is a small bit of a loyalty factor involved. Yes he's rehabbing well, yes it sounds like they want to go back to what worked with Reggie and Deuce in 2006, yes he is such a leader on the team...all these are valid reasons to keep him at his salary this year. But I also think/hope that they will show a bit of loyalty to Deuce and will want to give Deuce this chance to show that he's back up to speed, for no other reason than he deserves that shot.

If Shaun Alexander can get squeezed out, it can happen to Deuce. I think the front office pays him his bonus due, and then see how well he does in camp. <b>However </b> I'm preparing myself for life w/o Deuce, just in case.

I was watching that highlight video for Reggie that got released here a few days ago. There's but maybe one or two clips where it looks like he DELIVERED a good hit.. but it doesn't seem like we see him running over folks that often, if at all.

reminded me of some of those Deuce clips when he just levels some dude, and keeps on TRUCKIN'

I think he stays as well. Loomis on a sirius nfl radio the other day said that his rehab is going well and should be ready to go for mini camp and did not address the issue of possibly cutting Deuce. He seems like a dedicated player and the Saints F.O. should be just as dedicated to him considering he is a solid player and person on the field, in the locker room, and community.
