I suppose this question could be a trick question if you consider some of the music from Paul Simon’s solo career to be the best, but what is the best Simon and Garfunkel song? This to me is like choosing your favorite child. “Bridge over Troubled Water”, “The Boxer”, “So Long Frank Lloyd Wright”, “My Little Town”, “The Only Living Boy in New York”, “Red Rubber Ball”, “Hazy Shade of Winter”, “Keep the Customer Satisfied”, “Baby Driver”.

That said, the one I love the best is “The Sound of Silence (electric, not acoustic). These last few weeks I completely understand that song, and feel it’s message (I think we all do).

The one that I can’t stand is “Scarborough Fair”. It just doesn’t resonate with me.

Sound of Silence is just brilliant - it's hard to deny. America is one of my favorites, I always enjoy it. The Boxer also has that sort of quiet intensity that marks their best work.

I love the harmonies in Bridge but have to be in the right mood for it. The whimsical melody lines in Mrs. Robinson are also fun to sing. Great vocals in that catalog.

Scarborough Fair is great to listen to in your college apartment with Christmas lights on the wall and a bong.

I like Disturbed cover of Sound of Silence better.
Well you are also a degenerate, so...

I honestly haven’t listened to Distrubed’s version, but I did hear the story how Paul Simon called the singer for Disturbed and said that it was really cool that he covered SoS.

as an aside, Art Garfunkl had the voice of an angel and and don't mean that derogatory at all. But we know what a Simon is without a Garfunkl but do we know what a Garfunkl is without a Simon?

I was checking solo career songs and had no idea he had a Watership Down song. Most of his stuff just sounds like he could have easily stepped in for one of the Air Supply guys. Now there is a group worthy of a thread.
