I know this is a long shot, but if he's willing to coach again in a year or two (assuming DA is no longer the coach), what would it take for him to rejoin the Saints?
I believe the Dolphins were willing to pay him 20+ million/year. Would that be his asking price?

Don’t think he’s coming back, I could see Miami or Dallas giving him more than 20 mil a season

I know Mrs Benson opened the checkbook for the Pels, but i'm not 100% sure if she will spend that much on a coach. I know Jones & the Dolphins have deep pockets.

I do agree that this is a very long shot, but he did mention he had his first case of FOMO this past weekend watching the Saints/Bucs game.

Sadly I think that ship has sailed. Coach Payton will be looking for new challenges. There will be several good openings next January and my guess is that he wants to go to a stable ownership with one of the young gun QB’s. If he can find that combination my belief is he will be coaching again next year. I only hope we can extract a 1st rounder mi I’m I’m out of the team he wants to go to!
My bet is the Chargers if they falter this year.

I suspect part of his burnout was specifically with being in New Orleans and at the helm of the Saints. I don't mean that as a dig at New Orleans or the team, I think he genuinely loves both, but going to work at the same place for that many years, the rut of familiarity and the yearning for something different, tiring of the challenges that can come with any place and organization. I just think after sixteen years, he wanted to move on from New Orleans and the Saints. I don't see that changing.

I don't think he comes back. His goodbye sounded just like one. It wasn't a "C ya later" type of thing.

We would need Burrow to opt to test free agency and land him here. That would entice Payton or some other high profile coach.
