Hey all, just wanted to share a story and ask your opinion.... If you ran throughout a burning home looking for victims and pulled a homeowner out but someone else recieved credit for it...would you speak with the reporter about it or leave it alone being proud of what you've done?

The news report claims another man who WAS there but never entered the home got the couple out and then a chain of neighbors with linked hands combed the house. Yeh never happened but their story sounds much better than what actually happened

Its too late...the story has been written.

Anything the person who actually performed the deed does at this point would appear to be looking for accolades. So that person should, as Blodasken said, allow the good deed to be the reward itself.

edit...well, then. you lol ( just read your reply above )

Assuming the victim was conscious, he should be the one to go forward, IMO. Of course maybe he did and the reporter decided not to correct the article.

But, no, I wouldn't. Someone should do it for you.

Congrats, btw. That's hero type stuff!!:9:

You should do good things because they're the right thing to do, not because you want notoriety.

There was a movie with a plot like this . . .

I was going to cite The Man who shot Liberty Valance. I think it's a good way to look at it. If the other guy takes credit he may become a senator while you may end up a drunk who sets this spare room he built on fire. Just saying but don't end up setting your house on fire although it would an ironic full circle.

Dude, I'd have already thrown myself a parade and would have naked chicks feeding me grapes.

But seriously, good for you. You did an awesome thing and you saved a life and no one can take that away from you. You're the wind beneath my wings or something.
