We lost Cousins & Rondo. Why do we look like a completely different team? Is it talent? Is it coaching? Have the players quit on Gentry?
It's really sickening and all this talk about trading AD isn't helping at all.

Honestly, their starting to lose me as well. I turn on the games almost expecting a loss in the final 2 minutes. Ive been a active fan as long as they have been here, even during the Dan Dickau terrible teams. If they lose AD,im likely out.

This is my take based admittedly on limited knowledge of the NBA in general and the Pelicans in particular. I would like to follow the team more closely--and the few games in the past I have attended have been enjoyable--but my passion for the team has remained somewhat limited.

What's wrong with the Pelicans? It starts at the top. Dell Demps has been the general manager for eight or nine years. With the Pelicans having one of the league's superstar players, the time to produce a legitimate championship contender passed some time ago. Yet Demps, whom the former commissioner of the league actually called a "lousy general manager," remains. And the general manager, based on record, has been "lousy"--he has failed to produce the type of team, after so many years and with a true superstar, that people have the right to expect; the team is mired in mediocrity; and the franchise could lose its superstar player, which could threaten the team's ability to compete in its market. The head coach seems below average. But when I say it begins at the top, I am talking about those who have tolerated the mediocrity--ownership and the person who is supposed to be exercising some oversight over the Pelicans, Mickey Loomis.

The mindset is that so long as the Saints are doing well, all is well in the world. The Pelicans are treated like a distant relative, and the product shows. So what is wrong with the Pelicans--the failure of ownership and upper management to expect much more from the current Pelicans regime than what it has showed over how many years.

So, just a casual fan here. I hope the Pelicans do well, for the sake of the city, but I don't really follow them as strongly as most of you guys/gals do.

My biggest question would be, what is the front office supposed to do?

Should they go out and try to acquire some "pieces" to put around AD, even though it seems evident that he will either try to force a trade, or bail after his contract ends next season? Or should they just move AD, blow things up again, clean house and start over? Would the current fan base be understanding of that?

Are the players putting in full effort, or do they see this as a lame duck season and they are just going through the motions?

Not trying to be negative or critical, I just don't know the vibe around the team and the fans right now.

I think you see what the market will bear and make your decision.

Loomis just better be looking over Demps shoulder because Demps is probably far more willing to sell off greater assets for a lower return than the organization should be comfortable doing given the position he is in.

To me, if you can swing a first, Hill, Moore, and Niko for Beal/Morris you go for it.

Just avoid deals that cripple you long-term. Like unless it is a bonafide superstar we better not hand away multiple firsts, including our 2021 first rounder, the year when High School kids will be eligible again and the draft will likely be strong and deep. Then you are entering Nets territory of risk taking and thats unacceptable for a small market with a wondering superstar on his second to last year.

I agree that Dell needs to be examined. He looked like a genius last year, but I guess winning and losing can allow people to see things differently. Boogie leaving has screwed us big time. We did not get one single asset for him. I think what really hurt us was Rondo.

they will be the Seattle Pelicans by 2020.. seems the ownership is deliberately tanking game year in/year out in order to sell the team.. why else would you keep Dumps and Gimptry for so long?
