When Facing the Falcons Which Quarterback You Feared the Most, Vick or Ryan? (1 Viewer)

Didn’t Julio have 1 catch in the game in NO in 16? Falcons still dropped 40+ points.

The last 2 games Julio was hurt the Falcons had 38+ points both games. And I’m pretty sure Ryan was good before the Falcons drafted Julio.
Against a terrible Saints defense. We allowed an average of nearly 30 points a game throughout the entire season.

Last year, when we actually had a defense, the Falcons didn't score more than 20 in either game. Both games together, they didn't score 38.

Ryan is okay. He's not great. He's overrated. He's got a Jerry Rice, will history see Ryan as a Joe Montana? Hell no.

He has a 32 TD-12 INT in his career. 2 games (where the Falcons failed to score on the 1 yard multiple times) is an outlier. Ryan not being Montana doesn’t make him any less of a QB.

Whenever the Saints have a decent defense, the Falcons can't seem to even put up 20 points. In 2013, they lost 23-17 and 17-13. Those two games weren't outliers. They were just what happens when Ryan faces good Saints defenses. And that's Ryan tends to bite off some decent yardage but he fails to get into the end zone and fails to bring his team to victory.

2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016 are historically bad defenses for the Saints. You're trying to make examples of years when rookie quarterbacks were looking like hall of famers against the Saints.

Ryan not being Montana is exactly why he's less threatening to the Saints than Vick, or numerous QBs (by themselves) in the league for that matter. Take away his stellar targets and he's just a pretty good QB. Nothing threatening.

I mean, when your QB plays in a division when 2 games a year for 4 years are against some of the worst passing defenses ever put together, You blow if you don't put up great numbers.

Ryan is a much much better quarterback than Vick ever was. But I think Vick was more frustrating to play against.

2013 was the worst team of Matt Ryan’s career. It goes both ways.

Unfortunately, the thread heading used the word "feared". But the answer to the question without question is Ryan.

In his years in Atlanta, Vick had QB ratings of 62.7, 81.6, 69.0, 78.1, 73.1 and 75.7. Vick was a great athlete and runner. But he was not close to Ryan as an effective quarterback.

When it comes to the Falcons and Ryan, this board loses objectivity.

In his early days, most definitely Vick.

The only reason we "feared" Vick more was because the Saints teams from those years were inferior to the Saints under Sean Payton and Drew Brees. Ryan actually has a chance to beat us when we're decent or good. Get real folks.

Those stats are deceptive. Rushing stats arent factored in. A typical Vick game against us was 200 yards passing and 75 yards rushing, 2-3 TDs total.

Vick was the scariest QB a team I was rooting for has ever faced. That includes the Saints playing Manning in the Super Bowl. When Vick was on his game there was simply no stopping him. I've never seen anything like it before or since.
