On top of the Saints playoff weekend it's also my birthday weekend coming up, so my family's going to take me somewhere for dinner. I go to the N.O. alot but don't usually eat out nice.. We're going to Acme for lunch on gameday for poboys but where should I go for some good dinner I couldn't get anywhere else.. I've heard Drago's is good, with the oysters they have. Are they that good even if I don't like oysters that much? Commander's, Emeril's... Name some places, I can't decide..

I suggest Impastato's Restaurant in Metairie!!! The owner of the restaurant, Mr. Joe Impastato is a HUGE, I mean HUGE Saints fan. He buys loads of season tickets every year and even has dishes named after Coach Payton. He even has his own "fleur de lis" @ the Saints hall of fame in Kenner. The bar in the restaurant is awesome! It is all 'pimped' out with saints autographs and other players. If you like Italian food, and love football, go to Impastatos. My wife and I eat there every Valentines Day.

Drago's is awesome. I'm not a big oyster fan per se but the charbroiled oysters are outta this world.

Eat at Muriel's in Jackson Square - reasonably priced, not hard to get a table, no reservations needed, great atmosphere, and you can walk to Cafe DuMonde afterwards.

Sounds cool but I'll be in New Orleans and I don't think we're leaving the city, how are the oysters at Dragos? I like oysters alright but only fried but thats all I've heard lately is how good those oysters are, I'm thinkin that's where I want to go.. is it nice/expensive and how is the other food?

Red Fish Grill on Bourbon

Good food

edit: get the BBQ Oysters warning: they're addictive

Yeah we're hitting up DuMonde (the place with the bengiets right?) Sat morning and Acme for lunch, I think our hotel's right by there

Well, Drago's is in Fat City (Metairie), so if you're not leaving the city proper.... but to answer your question, their charbroiled oysters are nothing ... NOTHING ... like fried oysters. Drago's isn't cheap but I don't think they're out of line than for any other restaurant and just as good.

Actually I may take ClubLevelPete's suggestion for Muriel's this weekend as we've never eaten there! Thanks, Pete!

Popeyes.

It just screams "Saints Football," IMO.

Hahaha hell nah man, I can get Popeye's a minute up the road, I'm not eating there for my birthday.. Drago's is in Metarie?? Man, how far away is that, I want to try this place, maybe on the way home Sunday.. West or east of N.O., I'll be headed east back home

Dragos is alright. Definitely not the best of food, but their oysters are rollin'.

Dragos is in Metairie in Fat City

edit: west of N.O.
