We're going to be in NO midt december for the Saints-Redskins game. We're thinking about staying at either the Country Inn & Suites or Hotel St. Marie.

We will be arriving late friday evening after traveling for almost 26 hours so although we're planning to spend some days partying, my husband just informed me that he wanted somewhere not too noisy for our stay especially that first night.

We'll be spending most of our time in and around the quarter.

Which hotel would you chose ? Are both situated in safe areas ?

Any good or bad experiences with either ? Or maybe a better hotel suggestion ?

Geaux Saints

I don't know either of the ones you mention.
What are you looking for?
Historic or trendy?
Is cost a factor?

Windsor Court is the best.
Ritz is nice.
Intercontinental is good as well.

My parents just stayed at the Wyndham Canal Place and
A friend just recommended the Wyndham Whitney on Poydras

I like the Monaco - leopard print bathrobe-kind of feel.
I often put up witnesses at the Queen and Crescent.

Thanks for your answers

Cost : Less than $200/night

Looking for a nice, clean place, with character (not the avarage chain hotel but historic perhaps ?) in a nice area, with rooms quiet enough to sleep at least between 12-7 am and within walking distance of the quarter and the superdome.

We usually stay at the Astor Crowne Plaza on Canal. I think they are around 140 or so a night and it is right off of the Quarter and an easy walk to the Dome. They are nice rooms and pretty quite as well.

I found the St. Marie and I don't think it will be quiet. It's a half block off Bourbon on Toulouse.

Sidestep shows some pretty good deals

http://www.sidestep.com/hotel/

plug in New Orleans, LA and the dates.

Looks like the Intercontinental is under $119
International House (hip) is around $100

Royal Sonesta (on Bourbon but big) is $156

Heck it shows Windsor Court is $189.

There will be all kinds of hotel/motel taxes on those rates, though.

Chateau Sonesta is a good option. It is in a good location, although a little bit of a walk to the dome but closer than the other FQ hotels. Should not have much problems with noise except for the garbage truck at 4am
