given the strenth of the NFC this year (or lack there of) which team do you think was the best of all time?

Well the problem is you're asking us to compare this team to one that was nowhere near a great team. Yes they were 12-3 but it was a hollow 12-3. We got our butts beat by Minnesota in the first round of the playoffs at home. Our D was nowhere near as ferocious as the 91 and 92 teams.

The 91/92 teams I think were the best ever. You can flip a coin as to which was better.

Seeing as how this is our first home Divisional Playoff game, anything in the second round is better than anything a Jim Mora coached team could ever give us.

The Mora team would shut us down for most of the game, get late into the 4th with a 9-7 lead, bring in the prevent defense, and lose 21-12 after they get a field goal between a couple drives by Brees highlighted by bombs to Colston and Henderson and several 15 yard passes with long runs to Bush.

Apples and oranges. It is hard to compare these two teams, the game is very different. The style of play is just very different even from 1987.

1987 team had two strike game wins, and one loss. So the "real" team was 10-2. [10-3 counting playoff loss]

I think when healthy, 91 would have been a good team to compare to today's team. We were hurting badly at the corner position [injuries] and got knocked out by the 'fun-n-gun' Dirty Birds. Or 92 team: no excuse not to have beaten Philly that year.

I'll always thank Mora for our first winning season in 1987. But that was also the strike year with three strike games. It was a great year, 1987, but this 2006 team is much tougher than the 1987. At least in my opinion.

I'll take this years team against any Jim Mora coached team. Mora's gameday coaching skills have got to rank up their in the all time worst category, need examples?
Sorry didn't mean to rant, but, it makes me smile to see the Coaching of Sean Payton and what it brings to this region!

The 1987 team wasn't even the best team of the Mora era.

I would say the 1992 12-4 team

The defense was stifling that year, given up 20+ points only three times.
(2 of our 4 losses) Lost to the Niners twice, but sweeped the Falcons.

Hebert threw for over 3,000 yards, and Hilliard, Dunbar, and Heyward combined for 1400+ yards.

Of the entire Mora era, this was the one year I really thought we would go all the way.

Who cares, lets enjoy. I have never been this happy since opening day. I don't know of any game that can top that Monday night game. A SB could top it for sure but beating the Falcons on MNF, returning to the Dome, fans going mad, is a hard one to beat. For me that was a SB.

If we get the real SB, I don't really know what to say without some tears falling. I've always hoped to see us in one but my time here is running out.

Oops, my bad, I didn't even answer the question. My answer is I don't know. Forget the other stuff I said.

Guys you need look no further than comments coming from Jacksonville these days to know what an opportunity we missed in those days.
One phrase: Carl Smith.

It is kind of amazing that Jack Del Rio would risk his job by allowing Carl Smith to run his offense. I think everyone who knew anything about the N.O. Saints when Mora was coach realizes what a liability Curly was to the franchise, everyone that is except for Jack Del Rio. Unbelievable.
