Nice. I wish we could here. What did you get?

Something called Cream of Kentucky. I got a bottle from our club a year or so ago and a friend loved it so it was a gift. THey have a pretty good selection, but most of it is drastically over priced.

Six states—Florida, Hawaii, Kentucky, Nebraska, New Hampshire and Rhode Island—and the District of Columbia authorize the direct shipment of all spirits as specified. Their 15 year might be the best bang for the buck with Speysides. Far better than their 18 year IMO

Got some a couple of weeks ago, good call! I’m liking it.

Funny tidbit. On yesterday I spoke with our a Supply Chain Mgr, whose from Scotland, and told him of my purchase. He immediately got excited and asked if the one bottle would last a night.. I must be at pre-school level as i told him it will last me until Spring.... haha.

Late to the party here but if you like smoother unmalted barley and I saw a few posts about Irish whiskey, then try and get a go on Green Spot. A step up from the regular offers from the bigger Irish brands. For scotch without the peat, if you can get it, try Auchentoshan American Oak. As already mentioned elsewhere, Islay whisky then you don't go far wrong with Lagavulin and a revelation for me in recent years is Japanese. I have a bottle of The Chita, a single grain Japanese which is pretty damn good.
My first experience of a Japanese was in a shipyard in China, owned by a Japanese company, spending the night with a group of Greek engineers. A heady mixture but the whisky so good I took a picture. When I got back home I showed the picture to the owner of our local whisky specialist. He told me the bottles are getting on for $300 a go.

I recently discovered Teelings Irish whiskey. Its rum cask finished.

Great stuff for under $40

Had some of this Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style this weekend and I really enjoyed it.

I also had some Maker's 46 at the same gathering, and the Old Forester blew it away.

I've heard good things about Japanese whiskey, anyone know a good one that isn't $300?

I have tried 2 or 3 Japanese whiskies and can't claim to have been blown away...especially for the price. Been a minute since I tried them so I don't remember which I got

I do have a bottle of Black Bull 21 put away for a special occasion. Normally I look down on blends...not a JW fan at all. For the money, I can do Monkey Shoulder

At any rate, the reviews for the Black Bull 21 sound great

If you can get hold of the Suntory one I mentioned earlier. It's called 'The Chita' and I think will likely be in the $50-60 price range jun20-chitajapanese.jpg
