If they are sealed well, they can last for centuries.
238 year old rum.

If opened, oxygen is bad but this takes quite a while. I use an argon gas wine saver for special bottles.

Not to brag, but this bottle of Pappy was found by my in-laws when they moved to their new place. It appears to have been a 1999 and since neither of them drink bourbon it remained unopened until yesterday when it became my birthday present. It was much sweeter and intense than the other pappy 10s I've had. Evaporation maybe or just the old SW juice, I don't know.

If it hadn't been opened before, there shouldn't be additional evaporation. Maybe just from a different batch that the previous ones that you've had? Nice find! Enjoy!

Got this last night. I love it.

Pretty good evening on the patio...

So being new to bourbon, I don't really have any old expensive bottles like some of you guys, but I have been trying a few things lately to find a new daily sipper. I really like Eagle Rare, but it's too hard to find to drink it daily. I really like OF 1920 and 1910, but at $55 a bottle, you can't drink those daily either. I tried Wild Turkey 101, and while I do mostly like it, it takes a few sips to get past that turkey funk and most days I don't even want to go for it. I've tried Evan Williams Bib and I think it's just a little to thin on the mouth feel to really enjoy it neat. I've mostly been sipping on Buffalo Trace, but today I found something I like better, Early Times BiB. It's so pleasant and sugary sweet. I really enjoy it a lot. However, I've been doing some reading on it and found that Brown-Forman just sold it off to Sazerac. Now I'm worried it won't taste the same for long. I hope I don't have to go back to the tasting board.

They're going to make ET BiB at the Barton distillery and Barton makes pretty good stuff. Very Old Barton 100 is good for the price of you can find it. It's the one with the white stripe around the label. I hear some folks are starting to buy up the ET BiB when they can for the seam reasons you confess.

I drove to Terrell, TX in search of a bottle of Wild Turkey Masters Keep Decades from 2018 for less than MSRP. I did procure a bottle, but then decided to poke around some of the liquor stores in the area to get a feel for what else might be there. Long story short, I found a few old bottles of bourbon. While I was unable to get some of the cooler bottles, I did make my way home with some bottles from the 80's and 90's.

What store did you go to? I live in Forney and Terrell is literally 10 minutes from me.

All of them.

I went to 509 Liquors to buy a Wild Turkey Decades, and then hit up every liquor store on the way back to DFW in Terrell/Kaufman. The ones that were the dumpiest are the ones with old, forgotten stuff. I'm not trying to hide anything, but I just don't recall the names. Google Maps for "liquor store" and then off I went.

Albertsons in Baton Rouge has Four Roses Single Barrel on sale at $37 which is the same price as Small Batch
