WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House dismissed a classified CIA draft assessment that found no conclusive evidence of a secret Iranian nuclear weapons program, the New Yorker reported.

The article by investigative journalist Seymour Hersh said the CIA's analysis was based on technical intelligence collected by overhead satellites and on other evidence like measurements of the radioactivity of water samples.

"The CIA found no conclusive evidence, as yet, of a secret Iranian nuclear weapons program running parallel to the civilian operations that Iran has declared to the International Atomic Energy Agency," according to the article.

"A current senior intelligence official confirmed the existence of the CIA analysis, and told me that the White House had been hostile to it," it said.

rubberneck, Seymour Hersh has been jumping and down for almost 3-4 years now saying that Bush is going to this and that to Iran all claiming he has got legit evidence to prove it. He said in 2004 that their was a secret plan to invade Iran and it was in the final stages, rubber, its been two years now and their hasnt been a peep out of his mouth about the rubber meeting the on Iran, buddy.

Invading Iran or much lesser attacking Iran wuld be much more difficult then the Iraqi situation in 2003, their a much bigger country, bigger army, bigger air force, better capabilities to defend themselves, ie ballistic missiles. Its like, trying to deal with North Korea except for the tyrant in Kim Jong Il part.

black adder and me have gone over this time and time agan and probably will continue to go over it but their is no evidence that Iran is making a bomb, BUT their is no conclusive evidence that their arent trying to make ballstic missiles and ICBMS that in theory could reach Europe and other parts of the Middle East.

Sure, Iran may not have a nuke yet but whos to say that their ICMS and other long range missiles cant do damage that causes other people's attentions and harm?

You cant, and I certianly cannot say with any proof.

U.N. sleuths find plutonium at Iran atom site: IAEA

VIENNA (Reuters) - U.N. inspectors have found traces of plutonium, of possible use in atom bombs, at an Iranian nuclear waste site as Tehran pursues a nuclear program despite the risk of sanctions, an IAEA report said on Tuesday.

The International Atomic Energy Agency report, obtained by Reuters, also said the U.N. watchdog still could not confirm Iran's nuclear intentions were entirely peaceful given its continued stonewalling of IAEA inquiries dating to 2003.

IAEA inspectors detected bits of plutonium in samples of particles of highly enriched uranium (HEU) taken earlier from containers at the Karaj atomic waste facility near Tehran. In larger amounts, plutonium and HEU can detonate atom bombs.

In response to IAEA queries, Iran said the HEU could have come from spent fuel from a Tehran light-water research reactor, the report said. Iran on Monday provided an explanation of the "slight plutonium contamination" now being assessed by the IAEA.

The report also confirmed Iran last month launched a second experimental chain of 164 centrifuges and began injecting them with uranium "UF6" gas for enrichment as nuclear fuel.

What's your problem with Hersh? He's broken some pretty big stories. Oh, well, I guess some people believe whatever the Whitehouse has to say.
“In Vietnam, our soldiers came back and they were reviled as baby killers, in shame and humiliation,” he said. “It isn’t happening now, but I will tell you – there has never been an [American] army as violent and murderous as our army has been in Iraq.”

I'm not gonna defend Hersh's verbage, but our track record in Iraq stinks. Should we rehash the many incidents that have occurred? You realize there are multiple court martial hearings going on right now for service men committing murder.

Do you agree with Hersh's comment about the military? The quote you cited from the Time article is from retired General Barry McCaffrey. It seems that you are using this article to defend Hersh. Do you know what Hersh wrote about McCaffrey?

Hersh:

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>Yeah...and so what...are you even reading and discerning what you're posting??...The things written about McCaffrey have a ring of truth and are coroberated by other soldiers but amount to a he said/she said and therefore without solid proof/evidence McCaffrey could not be therefore prosecuted...AND from that your surmising that the Seymour Hersh made everything up and usually does with most of his articles...Sorry but that's a very very weak arguement if any at all..you'll have to do better than that to get anyone to believe that Seymour Hersh is making up this fantasical goings on in Iraq and elswhere...maybe in the early days of Iraq you get away with that..but not anymore...moving on...
