I certainly didn’t. Since this is draft week, I thought this was an incredibly interesting story.

The Vikings (haha) drafted him even though he didn’t even play HS football... bc... 4 Super Bowls with no victories will do that to you.

I had the opportunity to watch Dave play college baseball circa 1972, howbeit it was but one game. I recall that his size and skill level were impressive. The game was played at Southern Illinois U., which is my alma mater.

Former Boston Celtic great Jo Jo White was drafted by the NFL,NBA,MLB,and the Marines. I also knew
Winfield was drafted 4 times.

I met him (Winfield) when I was a kid in the mid 80s. He was related to a kid I went to kindergarten with.

My alma mater, St. Bonaventure, also had an athlete accomplish something similar. George Carter was drafted by the Detroit Pistons, Buffalo Bills, New York Mets, and then, after two years of military service, was an ABA All-Star as well. There aren't too many more like Carter and Winfield, I don't believe.
