Who Do We Draft in The 1st Round Now? (1 Viewer)

We could get Kwame Geathers from Georiga in 4-5 round. 6-5 355lbs.

Brandon Williams
looked like the best 1-gap NT at the senior bowl IMO. Josh Boyd was the best NT prospect at the shrine game that I saw.

Both are squatty hand fighters with good movement skills.

Williams reminds me of Casey Hampton.

Our draft production problem over the past few seasons has been largely the relative lack of draft picks. I see no player in this draft whom we absolutely must have. Let the draft come to us. There should be several 3-4 type players on the board representing value when we pick at 15. I do not see a NT or safety at 15 who will represent value, and normally players at these positions do not go in the first half of the first round, though the safety position over the years has been moving up in importance.

Much will depend on whom we retain, lose and acquire in free agency. But with Eric Fisher likely off the board at 15, I see us picking an OLB or even DE for a 3-4, though probably the former with Mingo and Jordan possiblities.

The big issue is whether we see Hicks as a DE or NT. But for a 3-4, we are going to need new linebackers.

And keep in mind Chris Faulk in the 3rd round.

The move to the 3-4 has made the upcoming draft easier. The needs are more clear, and it seems that most of the available players fit better with the 3-4. How many suggested draftees were dismissed with "He's a 3-4 player" before the announcement?

He's reminded me of Ahmad Brooks all year.

Great in coverage and can blitz and set the edge.

2013 Senior Bowl: Wednesday Prospect Meetings Report (North Team)

Here is a recap of the player interviews that were conducted on the field after Wednesday's practice by the North team. Typically, these interviews with area scouts are to set up longer, formal interviews for a night during the week. While teams say they "talk" to every player, teams do not take the time to conduct formal interviews with every draft prospect, so this can be a clue as to which players are on their radar.

New Orleans - Missouri Southern defensive tackle Brandon Williams

Agreed. The 3-4 shift changes the players we will be targeting at 15. Both Mingo and Jordan seem ill suited for a 4-3. They are now in the mix. Is Richardson, who can play DE in a 3-4, still a possibility at 15? What about Ansah from BYU?

We will be picking linebackers in this draft. The odds are that Wilson and Galette are not suddenly going to sparkle because of a new defense. One might, but not both.

I think that one of the worst moves that we could make would be to draft mingo for the 3-4.

I just don't think that he's fluid enough to rush or cover in space. DaMontre Moore is a much better athlete and is great on stunts and has exceptional lateral agility.

I think that Gallette has potential as a two-down player at the very least. As someone pointed out yesterday, the question there will be how well he can cover.

I think that Dion Jordan and Corey Lemonier are almost carbon copies of the 49ers' Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks.

I'd like to go either OT, a Ngata-style spaceeater, or Ogletree. Either way, I'm hoping we can get either by trading down and getting a few extra picks. We need depth badly. I can see Ogletree tearing it up at the combine and upping his stock though...smh
