My first ever poll on here I think.

Who do you want the Saints to sign or who do you think they will sign?

Personally, I hope they sign a combo of Apple and Ogletree, but for this poll you only get one choice.

...Now, I know there's also a way to create an extra 6-8M in cap space (Cutting P-Rob and Edwards Jr. post June 1), and with that on top of the cap space cleared by cutting Warford, you could potentially rent Everson Griffen and Kwon Alexander to 1 year rentals.

This is all knowing that Slot CB is also an issue, and therefore, feel free to replace Griffen with a CB like Eli or Ryan.

I went with Eli Apple since I think a 3rd boundary corner is our biggest need by far. Pass rush would be nice, but I think we can get by with what we have on the roster. Apple is the best available boundary corner cause both Ryan & Dennard are more slot guys which we are good at. Plus he comes with the extra bonus of being the starter last year at the beginning of the season. Bring him back to possibly get his spot back from Jack Rabbit.

I think linebacker is our 2nd biggest need cause right now we depending on two guys that can get inured walking from the locker room and another guy that is a rookie tweener that was better at rushing the passer than he was playing a true linebacker role. I think other than the diluted sample, that is the reason Zach Baun fell to the 3rd round IMO. Clay Mathews would be a perfect mentor for Baun cause I would like him to be exactly what Clay was early in his career mixed with what he was later in his career. A beast pass rusher, but also able to play a regular linebacker role in coverage. But he probably wouldn’t come cheap and don’t think signing him to just be a mentor is smart. He’s 34 years old and has to be on the major decline.

Alec Ogletree is probably the best LB available that fits our needs. I think he’s played both MIKE & WILL. We would need him to likely challenge Anzalone & Kiko for the MIKE spot. I think he could play SAM as well, so he would be a nice starter or backup at 28 years old.

It would be nice to be able to have Everson Griffen as a pass rush specialist, but we don’t need him IMO. I like what we got in Cam, Davenport, Baun, T-Rex, Granderson with guys like Spence & Cumberlander. I think we will see Baun rush the passer a lot cause that was his strength at Wisconsin.

I’m good with our receivers, unless they brought in someone like ex-Grambling State WR Chester Rogers for depth. We have Harris for the speed role and a bunch of big targets, so just a 6’0” regular receiver would be ideal.

I would love to see us bring in Eli Apple, Alec Ogletree, Chester Rogers, and whoever will come the cheapest out of Ziggy Ansah(2.5 sacks), Jabaal Sheard(4.5 sacks), Vinny Curry(5 sacks) or the old men Michael Bennett(4 sacks) or Cameron Wake(2.5 sacks) as strictly a pass rush specialist on a super cheap “chasing a ring” type deal.

San Fran is not cutting Kwon, it would cost them over 14 million in dead cap for a player that only counts 4 million against their cap this season.. The rumors about him being on the trade block are false

I'm also really high on signing Griffen if only so we won't have to face him, that guy kills us
