Who’s the Saints interim HC if/when a firing occurs? (2 Viewers)

As others have said, make Rizzi interim. He’s been a finalist for 2 HC jobs and is super respected by players and throughout the league. He would probably be the only guy that could improve the W/L record this year.

Let Kubiak focus on the offense and seeing what Rattler has over a big sample of games.

Ideally Loomis would promote himself and hire a real Football guy as GM and let that person lead a totally real and open HC search and let the chips fall where they may.

My concern if Kubiak was promoted midseason is the added responsibility could hamper the ongoing development of the offense. Injuries have created an obstacle to success and I don’t think his longterm value to the team is established, yet. Two great games but since then, the picture is less clear. Promoting him now could just set him up to be a lame duck.

I think Rizzi is the best option. Frankly while I think Kubiak is a good OC, I'm not sure he has the personality to be a Head Coach. By his own admission, he has a boring personality and I think in the modern NFL you need a guy with fire to motivate players. The talent level is so close across the league that you either have to be a genius on one side of the ball or a great motivator. And KK is a good OC, but he doesn't appear to be an offensive genius.

I think DA has at least to the bye week before his job is really in danger during the season. I don't expect things to change and I would make the change now, but I would think Loomis would wait until the bye week to give the interim coach more time to organize things before the next game.

If they don't pull the trigger during the mini-bye. There is probably no point in pulling it in week 12 with a probably 4-8 record.

Right. I definitely wouldn’t expect a change on a short week.

I’ve been patient and hopeful about Allen but it’s clear it’s just not working. I like to see people succeed so I hate it for him.

I don't care if Loomis keeps the GM job or not, but they have to get better at scouting college players and drafting. Whether that means new scouting and personnel guys under Loomis or Loomis moves up and brings in a new GM I don't care. I think some of the problem is that for better or worse, Loomis relied on Payton to make the final personnel decisions and he's given DA some of that power and he is not good at it.

Yeah. I thought DA should have been let go after the first year and after last year, but I'm not someone who is going to constantly call for him to be fired once the season starts. But at this point there is just no reason to give him more chances or time. He has the QB, coaches, and team he asked for that was built over 3 years. It's not going to work with him. I

I hate to call for anyone to lose their job and I'm not going to participate in the personal attacks on him when he's just a football coach and he's a human being, but it is long since time that he should have gone.

That's a good point. I forgot about the mini-bye week with the Thursday game. That would be a good opportunity to pull the trigger. But even week 12 makes sense because you give yourself a head start on looking for a new coach and figuring out what is wrong with your personnel as opposed to just a coaching problem.
