Pretty easy question but like the best player on defense thread, think the answers will be all over the place.

My vote goes to Malcolm Jenkins and Will Smith but I could make a case for quite a few others as well.

All of them!! There's not one guy on our defense that I can say I would not rather another player in the league. That's why I laugh when people suggest we don't need good players at any position on defense. We have no playmakers at any level! We could use a upgrade at all positions! Some are ok, none of them are special.

We haven't had a pass rush in years. Can I pick the front 7?

I disagree on Jenkins. I feel like most of his errors came from being out of position, or not knowing the specific asignments. That can be said about P-Rob I think, as well, but I'm no expert, it's just the way I saw it. Harper however, really seemed to lack fundamentals at times, even playing "in the box", which was supposed to be his strenght. Will Smith underwhelmed as well, to say the least.

Sedrick Ellis for sure because he never has performed. Herring played a couple games and should be cut IMO he could not tackle and was always two steps behind the play.

Yeah, Herring or Johnny Patrick would get the outright vote but they are pretty much non factors because Patrick has been cut and Herring probably wont be far behind.

Since every single defensive player, with the exception of Cam Jordan, took a major step backwards last year, the answer to your question is Spagnuolo.

I don't completely agree on the "all of them", comments. I think Cam Jordan played very well, and Bunkley did what was asked of him. Hicks also played well when on the field. Outside of those guys, the rest played horrific.

Could not agree more. When players don't respect or want to play for a certain coach, it always transitions into under achievement. This very same group of guys could actually over achieve with the right coach, hopefully that guy is Rob Ryan.

We would still need a better pass rush.

Jenkins has never filled the shoes of sharper, or even a jarius byrd.
