Why are there automatic 1st down penalties? (1 Viewer)

The NFL wants scoring and offense...…..bottom line!!

The way the rules are set up greatly benefit offense and hamstrings the defense!

Goodell would be happy if every game was 50-49

I'd love to see several penalties ONLY called when it's overwhelmingly egregious.

Offensive holding, defensive holding, PI, OPI, and hands to the face (newly added to my list)

All of these happen on every single snap in football at EVERY level. Someone once told me that the refs only call the ones they see, and that there's only 8 refs and 22 players on the field, so they can't see everything, and that's why it seems inconsistent. Okay, I get it.

But if you simply removed the ticky-tack calls, two things would happen. Flags would be cut in half, and football would be watchable again.
