Why aren't we all voting every day for Rickey Jackson to the HOF? (1 Viewer)

The real person you should ask this question to is Peter Finney. He's the guy who should be campaigning for Rickey's induction since he's the one who needs to influence his fellow sportswriters.

At the moment, the FHoF is run by the good folks in Ohio, & they don't neccessarly take our views, the fans, into account when placing ppl in, that may change in the future as the league is working with the folks in Canton, to allow fans to vote & those votes to have an impact. At the moment, it really doesn't matter how many papers we sign, but hopefully that will change soon.
Huh? The people that vote for HOFers are the sportswriters from around the country, not a bunch of people from Ohio

The truth of the matter is that Rickey was on a bad TEAM. He was one of the best LBers on arguably the best LB corps ever, but they didn't win anything with this team. I realize it's unfair, but it is what it is. He came into a team already built to win.

A week or two ago I believe it was ESPN, could be wrong, was interviewing one hall of famer, can't remember his name, and he said that in order for Rickey to have a shot at the hall is for the present day saints to start having success. He pointed out that sometimes a team's success in the present makes the voters go back and look at that franchise's past hence Tippet getting in to the hall after the success the Patriots have had this decade.

Because the web site is a hideous pile of overstuffed bloatware that takes longer to load than Rickey Jackson's career lasted?

It would be quicker, and less annoying, to swim the Atlantic, walk to Canton, knock on the door, ask the guy who opens it if Rickey could please be admitted to the HOF - and be told "No. We changed the rules, and its Falcons only."

This. ^^^^

But I voted anyway and will continue to vote. And, yeah, I know it has no official bearing on the HOF but it IS about recognizing Rickey.

Damn right I'm going to vote for Rickey every day! I didn't know the fans could vote. Personally, I think it's BS that fans get to vote. It shouldn't be a popularity contest, but I guess it is anyway. So, yeah, I'm voting. I just did. Thanks.

However, bear in mind this has no real bearing on the actual HoF voting.

Right, this has absolutely nothing to do with the HOF from what I've
seen. So..What's the point? It looks like a fricking JC Penny commercial. :idunno:

Ok..but Tippett's teams sucked too...really...

You know what's really sad (and I mean both doleful and pitiful)? These sportswriters do this for a living - every freakin' day - all do (or access) research during their careers - think of all the arcane and wacky stats they use in their columns... then claim ignorance when it's time to vote...

Inexcusable...

I voted and I posted on my fantasy football league message board for others to vote for him also...

This is just to let the REAL voters know what the fans think. It has no bearing on the actual voting.
