Why didn't Dak just run the play vs trying to spike it? (1 Viewer)

With no timeouts... It was a dumbazz play call... Just not enough time. Better to just heave it to the endzone there until the clock hits 0:00.
You could have realistically taken two shots in the end zone with 14 seconds left. Can you imagine this board and the reactions had Payton called that exact play?

Dak started his slide at the 25, then the center placed the ball on the 23. After the ref fought his way thru the O line, he replaced the ball on the 24 in an attempt to give the boyz a chance. If he had made them (O line) move back to the 25, like he should have, it wouldn't even had been as close as it was. And don't say, as I've read some on here say, that they should have stopped the clock for him to place the ball. That's not how it works. Dak should have gotten down at the 30, that would have put the ref closer to the play, and they would have had another two ticks on the clock. Poor clock management/awareness by the QB does not necessitate an emergency on the part of the officials.

Watching the highlights on youtube, Dak started to slide at the 27. His knee hit the ground well before the 25. So one can even argue that the ref tried to help Dallas by ceremonially touching the ball and moving it just a few inches back and not placing the ball 3 yards from where the Dallas center placed it and making the entire team move back.

It was a horrible call and "horribler" execution, but the tears of Dallas fans taste oh so good :hihi:

You don't run that play with zero timeouts. Ever.
with only 14 seconds left you can't even run a play throwing to a receiver over the middle of the field, much less run for 15 yards

they always refer to 16 seconds as the dividing line as to whether you can do that or not

For the correct record, at 0:00, ball was NOT snapped
the ball was being snapped by the center before 0:00, the ball didn't get into Dak's hands by the time the clock expired, there's a difference

pretty sure that play would have counted

That is a very good shot of it. As soon as he started that slide, thats where the ball goes. The ref could have put the ball back 3 or 4 yards from where he did. He actually gave Dallas the benefit of the doudt for that spot..

Fans are saying that the designed run was a Moore play call. What a clown.

No, it did not. Go to any YouTube video of the game, hit pause as the clock goes to 0:00----the ball is still on the ground, which is why the game was ended
