Why do we only go up-tempo when we're down? (1 Viewer)

We move the ball with a lot more success when we go up-tempo. So why isn't it a part of our regular offense until we're down. It just doesn't make sense.

Am I missing something?

It isn’t sustainable. Otherwise every team would do it more often than not. Sure, we could probably use it more earlier on and not wait until we are down but that’s on the coaches and only they know why.

The Saints move the ball late because the other team stops bringing the pressure and drop all the secondary 5 yards from the LOS.

We’d get those deeper coverage looks a lot if we’re uptempo most of the game. A defense only blitzes so much until the offense hits a quick throw to a wide open receiver one on one while safeties are blitzing at the LOS. But Winston and coaches aren’t making adjustments to see that.

Because the opposing team has built a lead and are controlling the game so they sit back and play more coverage on the 4ty quarter which makes it easier to move the ball, which is why Winston only has success in the fourth because the opposing team has controlled us most of the game defensively.

This problem existed with Payton so people need to stop acting like it's a new thing with Allen. Sometimes you just need to attack the other team first and not wait for them to make a mistake before you get aggressive. It's been going on since 2006.
