Why does the D play at such a high level when Brees is out (1 Viewer)

Last year they played lights out when Brees went down and Bridgewater played. When Brees came back they weren’t as good. Do you think they tend to lay off a little when they know Brees is in?

Outside of a couple huge plays and some frustrating DPI penalties early in the season, the defense has played quite well for most of this season.
 
1 touchdown in the past three weeks. It's not just today.
The proof of the greatness of this defense is in the total domination of teams the last three weeks. 1 touchdown given up in three weeks is something to be proud of and I see this defense growing more confident every week. What a turnaround!!
 
This game was won by the D foremost...not that the O had nothing to do with it, Taysom exceeded my expectation, now that we know he can throw, his confidence will skyrocket in the next few games, and he will start playing much better But its the D which keeps the game close early on.... If the Saints D plays like this.....great things will surely follow....
