murray had 2 games in a row where he had over 150 yards of total offense and then for some absurd reason he got the ball a handful of times..
Because Kamara is "healthy" and they are assuming Murray can be as effective as Ingram was on 12 touches a game. Murray is the definition of a volume carry runner. Is it any surprise that Murray's best games came without Kamara? The games where he got 27 and 21 carries, he looked like a legit #1 RB. The games where he is barely touching the ball? He looks like a journeyman at best as a #3 RB option.

I do think we had a better WR group on the SB team, however.
The Super Bowl winning team didn't have any single player as talented as Kamara or CGM... but the dropoff from Colston to Moore was stepping just one rung down on a ladder. The dropoff from Mike Thomas to whoever is supposed to be the #2 WR is literally falling off the ladder and breaking your neck when you hit the ground.

There has never been a gap as huge as last season and this season from the #1 WR and the rest of the WRs on the Saints in the Sean Payton era. I've looked it up, it's insane. In the SP/Brees era, last season was the first time the #1 WR on the Saints had more receptions and yards than all other WRs combined. It's going to happen again this season too.

When it became clear TQS and Kirkwood would not be the answer for 2019, the Saints should have moved heaven and earth before the trade deadline to bring someone in.

We have two players that are top 5 at their respective positions. No one else in the league has that on their offense. Any team is screwed if their top players on offense go out, such as the Niners when the lost Sanders and Kittle on Monday. I think we just need to relax a bit.
We don’t need a star behind Michael Thomas. We just need someone mediocre at this point. Most teams don’t have the drop off behind their top WR that we have

That’s the point. We need to find one. I’m certainly not against bringing Dez in to see if he is that guy.
We could have 5 great weapons and it still won't help unless our O-Line can block better!
I remember when brees used to have the quickest snap to pass time. That negated strong pass rushes and tremendously helped the OL. We haven’t had that in years. If we could add another WR who can get open, that would take pressure off the offensive line.

Imagine what Brees could do if we had a true #1 WR. That's what we heard on this board from 2006-2016. He has one now and this is the worst statistical offense since 2005. The defense is one of the best so overall the team is very good, but there is no doubt the offense is missing something.

There are 31 other teams in the NFL and you named the other one.

I think the op's point has been made...
Saints Thomas/Kamara/Brees
Cowboys Elliot/Cooper/Dak
Chiefs Hill/Kelece/Mahomes

Vikings barley miss -Cook/Thelin/Roudoulph/ Diggs-Cousins

But all of those teams have legit 4th and 5th options we have a 5th in Murray .

Waiting On Ginn/Kirkwood/Ginn/ Dez someone step up and be that 4th and 6th options

Let's rank WR's from 1-5 with Thomas being a 1 and someone like Carr being a 5.
This year we have a 1 and the rest are 4 or 5's.
2009 and 2011 we had a 1 in Colston and maybe two 1's in 2011 with Jimmy Graham included, but followed that with a 2 and 3's with players like Henderson, Moore, Meachem

Exactly. We didn't have a true #1 by definition, but had a WR core that overall was great. Now we have a true #1 and arguably the best in the NFL, but the drop off is huge and the offense is affected by that. TQS and Kirkwood can develop to close that gap and healthy they may already close that gap. We are also seeing Taysom running more routes, Cook getting integrated, Harris could carve out a role and even Hogan I think has a place where his strengths can be used.

Just curious what would you consider Brandon Coleman when he was with us? From 1-5 with 1 being the best and 5 the worst. He showed flashes of a 3 IMO but was usually a 4-4.5

I would say overall he was an unfinished product who's career was cut short due to a career ending injury. If you look back at his predraft assessments, he had all of the makings of a taller Marques Colston at 6'6" 225lbs and a 4.56 40, 21 reps at 225, good vertical and large catch radius. Payton had a guy he wanted to develop and during his development he had a role, that he was good at, blocking. Sure he ended up with 1K yards in his career and 8 TDs, but when given the opportunity he had some costly fumbles. In a previous thread a while back, I broke down his fumble % and it was really high compared to other WRs and players in reference to the amount of touches he had. Overall, he probably graded out pretty low in the 4 range, but he had strengths and Payton used him in a role to capitalize on them.

This is what SP does, he finds guys and develops their strengths and carves out a role for them. He's always trying to find that next mismatch player or that diamond in the rough.

Kirkwood and TQS being injured this season really put a damper on their development since season 2 is where these guys make big strides especially with everything that SP wants them to do. The information is out there, but if you look at both Kirkwood and TQS predraft info and comments from coaches since they have been on the team, the signs are there that these guys have all the talent and strengths to be good. It is possible that we go from MT and a huge drop off to the next WR to MT and a not so big drop off to 2 decent WRs really quick when they get healthy. Hogan already being involved in the offense and with the numbers even slightly going up from his first game to his second tells me that the team likes him and SP and CJ are working on developing his strengths to get him involved and he could be a weapon at some point.

The way I look at it is there is a reason or multiple reasons why each one of these guys was brought in via draft, UDFA or FA. SP doesn't give up on players, he develops them or at least gives them the opportunity to develop.

We could have run the ball a lot more especially with the breakdown of the offensive line. Run plays may have been called. We are supposed to be a run-first offense (at least that is what SP wants). HOWEVER!!!! Brees has the option to change plays at the line and he is only concerned with keeping his passing record in tack. What better game to throw the ball in against a 1-7 Falcons team. Fans don't like to hear the truth but it's about to slap some fans in the face. Brees (at 75,505 passing yards) is just trying to outlast Brady (at 73,050 yards). That gap could be closed by the end of the season. Connect the dots. IJS But I digress..
