Why Isaiah Foskey Over Keion White in the Second Round? (1 Viewer)

Very few rookie DEs come in wreck shop early. I don't have any proof that Foskey could be a great/elite pass rusher because I've hardly seen him play. he gets zero "live" reps so how do we expect him to develop? And now you bring in Chase Young to go along with Grando and Cam.... the kid will never play.

He must not win many reps in practice... I don't know, but I think as of now its a wasted pick. They did the same thing with Zach Baun, and now he's in Philly making plays as a starter. I'd be willing to bet Foskey will go somewhere else that will develop him into a solid edge rusher.

I kind of had same thought, especially if they are going to bulk him to 285. If they are going to play Foskey as a Sam LB or primarily deploy him as a stand up edge then it makes sense.

Also getting Bresee reduces the need for double a gap blitzing and interior blitzes(in theory)

So Foskey would make sense
That theory isn't working. Bresee hasn't been consistent w/ his pressure game to game, Saints need to continue to invest in their Interior Dline while finding Chase Youngs in the bargain bin year to year to pair w/ Granderson. They should also consider throwing their hat in the undersized pass-rusher hat. Mainly because they may be able to find a steal in the later rounds.

I know this is wildly unpopular here but speaking of Bresee I just don’t see what everyone else does. He’s decent, imo, nothing special at all. Maybe he will become a disruptive force. I hope so.

I miss Laroi Glover, or the heavy lunch bunch lol.

Bresee already has 3 sacks and a FF in 4 games which is absurd production for a DT. Dude is producing at a high level.

Because Dennis Allen has a prototype for DE that he covets.

Marcus Davenport
Payton Turner
Isaiah Foskey

3 1st round picks and 1 2nd round pick wasted

Do you think Chris Jones is decent and not special at all? Because he’s tied with him in sacks, forced fumbles and TFL’s

At some point if the prototype isn’t working wouldn’t you change the prototype? At least try something different?

Already answered above. 😊 Right after your post.

I think Jones is at the top of the game. Hope Bresee continues to get better. If he does and keeps up those stats for many years then I’ll feel your comparison is warranted.

I understand DA was defensive coordinator at the time, but two of those picks were on Sean Payton's watch. To be fair.
Agreed.

Whomever is making these picks along the lines needs to reevaluate their method imo.

Especially the edge and d line.

Payton doesn't pick defensive players either .

Dennis tells Payton what he wants to run and the type player he wants at certain positions. He gives him prototypes. He wants 6'4" 285 lb guys that can set the edge.

Give Dennis a tweener like Zach Baun and he tried to play him at linebacker for 4 years for no good reason.

I understand that's DA's prototype.

But I have serious doubts that Payton hired DA and then afterwards found out what prototypes he likes. That seems backwards from how Parcells would operate.
