I've been with AT&T and the iPhone since the iPhone 3G launch (now have the 5) and still have been able to keep my $30 unlimited data plan. I don't consider myself lucky, because the amount of money I send to AT&T (Family Plan) every month still doesn't seem justified to me.

I go days without making a phone call - I use their data intermittently during the day, the data I use during the day are just those random spot checks of the phone that one makes during the course of the day. I have the internet in front of me call day at work. I'm forking over $30 a month on unlimted text, when the majority of my messaging is through iMessage. If you drop the $30 unlimited text, you're bound to go over $30 a month in texting, because the pricing on texting is so ridiculous that just a couple of text messages a day will put you over $30. When I'm at home, the phone hops onto the home wifi.

But what about those pour souls that are paying 10 to 15 dollars per GB? That is outrageous. It's gouging. It isn't 1995. It's time to start sending some letters to the FTC and FCC.

Internet should be a flat monthly price - 50 bucks - access it wherever and however you want - home, phone, tablet - doesn't matter.

how in the world did u manage to keep unlimited?

when i went from Crackberry to HTC Evo (few years back ) is when they said i couldnt do unlimited anymore. Granted, its $20 / mo and $10 for every 1gig over 2GB, so it ends up being the same, but still!!!!!!! kudos to u

Internet service is closing in on utility territory. Just like electricity and water.

The sooner it's treated that way, the happier I'll be.

Cell companies are cheating themselves. We finally have the speed/bandwidth on cellular where a hotspot can replace your home internet and the dummies throttle it.

Dear Verizon:

Instead of giving AT&T $40 a month for U-verse, I'd give it to you if I could have 4G speed and unlimited data at home.

I am grandfathered in on unlimited with Verizon.

I use my phone for my internet at home by making it a hotspot.

So I cannot complain

Even worse, why are those same carriers refusing to upgrade their infrastructure to give fiber access to all? We pay more here for worse speeds than almost every developed nation and some lesser developed nations.

Speaking of Cox, I have their cable, and it's a joke. Will Hulu provide Saints games? I am thinking about getting Hulu, already have netflix, just want to know if I can catch live sports.

No. Hulu doesnt have a contract with the nfl. You need an antenna outside if you are within the area otherwise you have to pay for it.

I had unlimited with Verizon but switched over to a tiered data plan so I could upgrade my phone. My wife and I don't use enough data to justify the $30/line for unlimited. Our bill is now $40 less per month and I use the same amount of data. I also have an up to date phone.

ATT is offering a service. Since so many people are willing to pay it, there is a market for that service, and since ATT is not a monoploly, the FCC has not right to interfere in services or service pricing.

I'm an ATT customer as well, and if you or I don't like their bundled pricing, we are free to seek competing services from Verison or Sprint.

I've been with Cspire/Cellular South since 97 so I'm not sure if one of the larger services could offer a better price for what we get. My wife and I pay $132/mo for unlimited everything,,,phone, data, and text. I believe we are grandfathered in to this package. How does this package compare to those from larger companies?

I still have unlimited as well on AT&T. Good thing too cause I used my phone a lot for everything. Stays on Wifi at home and my business but I use it all over without thinking about the data usage.

We have the same and have been with them a long time. $180/mo for 3 smart phones with unlimited everything. We drove out to California a couple of years ago, and we didn't lose service anywhere. I'm happy with them.

That is really the bottom line. You always hear about peoples' money problems yet there is no problem finding millions of people willing to pay $150 and up for smart phones and another $50 and up for broadband. Also, let's not forget the $100+ for cable/ satellite.
