I know Lovie is looking for a Head Coach position, but is there really a better Defensive Coach available other than him? Could he be the the mystery candidate? Would he fit in with our personnel? I would lovie to havie him here!! :worthy:

Has it been etched in stone yet that we are definitely switching to a 3-4?

not 3-4 and he's taking a year off from football
He said he might take a year off unless he finds something he likes. I honestly can't think of a better defensive coach available on the market right now. Lovie Smith is better than any other candidate mentioned so far. I would even be happy staying in a 4-3 for one more season if we got Lovie for one year.

He's a 4-3 guy and he's not taking anything but a head coaching job.

I may be in the minority, but bring on Rob Ryan! ! ! I don't believe he's ever had a coaching staff like ours and I think he'll be out to prove a lot of people wrong this year. I'd love it if we hired him. After the signing happens, I think many of you guys will start to love it more and more. One thing i've learn from Saintsreport is that some signings take time. I beleive we will all talk about this off season for some time and will be another turning point in the Saints franchise. Quot me on this.

Sorry, but no matter what 2 ways you look at it, the fact still remains. Lovie Smith is a better Defensive Coach than Rob Ryan or any other candidate that has been mentioned. Prove me wrong. Also prove to me that Lovie is going to sit out all year. Also prove to me that we are definitely switching to a 3-4.

I know one thing is certain. Payton wants a change on defense. He has shown that he is willing to switch to a 3-4 defense. Lovie Smith runs a 4-3 Tampa 2 defense. If Payton is willing to make changes, then why not consider making a change to the Tampa 2? Sorry if this is all off base.. I just always like to think outside the box, and in the NFL I don't believe anything until I see it with my eyes. Lovie will coach somewhere this year. He is just playing the game. Negotiating. Somebody will pay Lovie what he wants. That's what its about. Its about money.
