I say rest them the first 3 quarters, and then bring them in for the 4th. How great would that be? Have the reserves hang tough all game long, and then bring in the fresh starters to finish off the evil cats. if it works out, the starters get a little play time, and we get a good laugh.

I say, play the starters the first half. Bring in the Subs in the 2nd half, and if we get behind, bring the starters back in.

Mulitple situations can be thought of, but GUYS, can you believe we even have this problem to discuss??? Who would have ever thought we would all be giving our opinions on what to do with our STARTERS!!!!!!!!

I was thinking the same thing earlier today while listening to ESPN Radio. If Carolina doesn't get a big lead on our 2nd team during the first half of the game, it would be sweet to see the 1st team come in for the 2nd half to clean up.

You don't bring in players after a long period of inactivity (3 quarters - 2.5 hours). It's just a recipe for a strain, pull, or torn muscles.

I know, I know. 1) They can stay loose on the sideline. 2) Backups come in late in the game all the time.

But it's pointless, IMHO. Either play them all the way, or start them, then rest them.

I don't agree with starting a player, then sitting, then reinserting him later in the game. That's a recipe for injury. But the second half thing could work because your starters would then have time to stretch and warm up before the second half. The only drawback here is that the players to be inserted may not be mentally focused and all the little things that got them where they are may collapse and be more trouble than it's worth. I suppose it's best to do it the conventional way, but it's something that hasn't been done before.

Just rotate em every series

BRILLIANT

If they feed Branch the ball we win,Branch is good and the Panthers will have their hands full.Plus I want to see what coach can do with backups,Is it the players or the coach!

Remember Coach Payton has said all along that EVRYONE must stay ready to contribute! PLUS, all of the players have seen this in action as Joe has gone down and Hollis was suspended and we've had Roman and Ninkovich go down early! They've seen what can and does happen so IMHO, our entire team is ready to contribute mentally anyway. What they can actaully accomplish on the field is a ?.

I say we play our starting line-up and slice through Carolina like a hot knife through butter! Sub in guys as the game situation allows.

Carve up Carolina!

Like Payton said of having Deuce and Reggie, "It's a good problem to have."

I'm kinda excited to see what our back-ups can do-----maybe we find another big time contributor for the playoffs....

You are right on....I think this is what Coach will do. You don't want to take a chance before the playoffs, but they played 15 games already and you want to keep them sharp. Sitting them on the bench is like an off week and you know what can happen after an off week........So play the game to win, and that's with your starters.

I say play them the whole game. That's what they get paid ALOT of money to do and they get a week off anyway.

$'s aside ( I say they have ALREADY earned this season's pay and they get EXTRA for their play-off games too) they will get their Bye Week to heal up if they just get dinged up and that after maintaining their winning momentum ( that is IF they can beat snot out of the panties which I believe they WILL) .

So play the starters and play them hard with subs as the game allows to give them a taste!
