In the gym yesterday, two college kids with suntans showed up after being out for a week plus. Pete asked them where they were and they cockily bragged, "South Padre at Spring Break Fest!" Pete asked it is was crowded and they crowed, "Packed with Babes." That's about 50,000 to 75,000 college and high school kids. Pete told them to get out of the gym, stay out for a month and try to look themselves in the mirror and grow-up real quick. Then he shut the gym down for deep cleaning.
That's what upsets me, all the spring break resorts knew a pandemic was occurring but they chose profit over safety. Now you have all these kids flocking back to their home towns and having a potential mass spreading. In a way, I blame their parents for letting them go.
My niece was set to hit ft. Lauderdale for break with her Clemson sorority sisters but chose to come home. (My sister would've made her if she had chosen not to). She knows who pays the bills.
Just ignorance and now it's said the younger generation aren't as safe from this as once believed .

There is much hope in Austria that Remdesivir could work wonders in treatment. Originally it's designed for Ebola but there are already a bunch of people who got Remdesivir and they did better immediately. So let's hope that this is the turnaround. Once there is a treatment for Covid-19, it's probably nothing more than a heavy flu in some cases. Stay safe my fellow who dats.

It’s not so much about finding a cure for the virus, but a handle on how to treat it effectively and stop it from worsening.
Once that is found, and the spreading of it curbed, I believe we will get to normal (or something close to it).
They will circle the wagons within the NFL, and if they have to close Training Camps off to the public... and even play the preseason and early season games for TV only, there’s still a ton of $$$ to be made... and at the end of the day, the NFL is all about that $$$
The NCAA and NBA are not small fries who don't care about money. The NCAA waited until the very last minute. There are a couple of Asian countries like Singapore & Taiwan that have been able to get it under control in a couple of months but we lack that capacity at this point: not enough tests and an overstretched healthcare system. The military may need to be brought in for medical/ logistical support.
The NFL season is in jeopardy of being postponed or canceled.

Stay out of the gym swimmer....go do some yard work or pick up bricks . Lol

loL. Hey BelowSeaLevel!!! Pete is only allowing 4 in his gym at a time. He has specific instructions to keep at least 8 ft apart. No working on side by side machines, only one person at a time on the stretching/core ab matt and use the anti-bacterial towels before and after each exercise. But I am an idiot anyway - lol. Just ask my finance.

Hysterically, one of the safest places to be is playing golf. I have a weak spot in my heart for that and one of these new electric robot caddy's that follows me around the course. It's way cool and makes walking very doable. I think Pete is going to have to shutdown the gym pretty soon. I hope not but we had our 1st reported case last nite in New Braunfels. Take care Brother!!!

Who will go to games in this pandemic?

There are two options for this year:

1. hold games for television only but still risk player/staff health

2. cancel the season outright and start in 2021

We just don’t have enough time to have societal wide immunity before the season starts and certainly not before training camp. I know everyone needs football to keep spirits up, but I’m looking at this from a larger perspective.

I guarantee you that the Olympics won’t be held this year. And I doubt baseball will go on.

I didnt vote because I didnt see the ‘Who in the hell knows at this point?’ option in your pole.. and that is really the only viable answer.

I’ve seen the 18 month figure bandied about. It’s based on the average of how long it takes to come up with an effective vaccine, get it manufactured in quantity, then get about 70% of the population injected for novel viruses.
That is a big part of the problem Too many things just "bandied" about with little to no perspective along with a propensity to create panic and generate hoarding and other mob-like behavior. 18 months is the extreme worse-case scenario based on modeling. Vaccines are not the only answer. There are therapeutic drugs the FDA has fast-tracked and then there is "herd immunity". We are seeing mortality rates drop substantially as testing increases and more cases are diagnosed and confirmed. I think it is way to early to suggest the NFL season will be cancelled.

I'm not saying I agreed it was going to be 18 months, I was just trying to convey where the 18 month figure came from. Most of us will have had it well before that point.

Definitely won't start on time.

About a 40% chance it's cancelled.

I'd so hate to see this year wasted for Drew and Brady. I can't imagine all the excitement of the draft and coming season and then there is none!

I have loved using SR as an escape but this post has really put things into perspective.
Agreed this particular season being wasted would be tragic.
