Let's balance this. We've also had T-Rex playing like a man on a mission! But Davenport has played in five (5) games this season.

Cam Jordan and Marcus Davenport BOTH have a unique skill set:

a. They are exceptional in rushing the passer. Contrary to what some believe- - - Cam Jordan leads the NFL in QB pressures so far this season. Again, both Cam & Marcus are exceptional pass rushers.

b. They are both well disciplined in setting the edge (boundary) and preventing runners from getting outside. Both are great run stoppers inside & out.

Since the Bye week, here is what the defense has done in yards per game (weeks 7 - 10):

Week 7: 37 rushing yards allowed
Week 8: 96 rushing yards allowed
Week 9: 8 rushing yards allowed
Week 10: 49 rushing yards allowed

Average yards surrendered per game (weeks 7 - 10): 48 yards

Saints are going to be a "tough out" from this point, including through the playoffs.

WhoDat!!!!

Week 9: 8 rushing yards allowed
ya know. i saw that, and thought man thats low, thats gotta be close to some kind of record.

little did i know.

detroit lions vs chicago cardinals, 1943, -53 yards in a game.
.

the lowest team in the most recent history,
lions 11/11/2007, -18 yards
lions 12/10/2006, -3 yards

almost all the others are in the WW2 years.

I wish they exclude Pre-Superbowl Era stats. Which is the real birth of the NFL. Everything else is silly rec ball leatherhead stuff.

Aren't we coming up on the record for most games in a row without surrendering 100 yard rush?

Thought we were close on that record.

Id seen that before somewhere. I think technically those should be classified as running for your life yards lol

We broke the record last Sunday against the 9ers. 52 straight games that broke the 72-76 Cowboys record

Bottom line is - we're kicking a$$ against the run. Consistently. If we don't already own that record, we're close.

That should scare a lot of teams.

Man, I've had my share of criticism for Davenport and the trade that brought him here but he has looked like an absolute monster in the games he has played this year.
I don't think any Saints fan criticizes his quality of play but the fact that he just isn't available enough.

Well, I'm pretty sure RBs are not trying to run up the middle with both Cam and Davenport there so that leaves them to run on the outside which Ceedy and Malcom have been closing the gap for runners. As long as the play action doesn't catch the backfield off-guard, our defense should look solid the rest of the way. My only concern is the Chiefs as you need to be watching the entire field. This is the perfect game to judge our defense.

We've been strong against the run for several seasons whether or not Davenport's been in the lineup. A bunch of good DTs, Cameron Jordan and solid MLB/SS play have been the keys.

Not that Davenport isn't a game-changer when he's healthy.
