It looks like the Saints selection of Meachem wasn't as crazy as many thought.

According to Mel Kiper, it is not very deep this year.

"Jared (Denver CO): What is the ddepest position in this years draft?

Mel Kiper: Right now, I'd go QB, TE, OT, CB and also if you need a 3rd or 4th WR."

Kiper is as normal off base.

So where did he place RB's?

Yeah, he actually might of been the first WR off the board this year.....

I would have thought RB would be among the deepest positions in this draft; Kiper didn't even mention that?

In any event, I do think Meachem could still very well prove to be worth a 1st round pick, it's just unfortunate that we essentially wasted a year's worth of 1st round pick playing time, given that he didn't contribute.

I liked the Meachem pick at the time and still do, provided he actually plays this year... we still have a need for another WR, in my opinion. Colston is the only reliable one of the bunch. Patten was a good find, but he's old as dirt.

He's younger than Horn was...
