i don't normally advocate vigilante justice-- but i don't really have a problem with this.

A Spanish mother has taken revenge on the man who raped her 13-year-old daughter at knifepoint by dousing him in petrol and setting him alight. He died of his injuries in hospital on Friday.

Antonio Cosme Velasco Soriano, 69, had been sent to jail for nine years, but was let out on a three-day pass and returned to his home town of Benejúzar, 30 miles south of Alicante, on the Costa Blanca.

While there, he passed his victim's mother in the street and allegedly taunted her about the attack. He is said to have called out "How's your daughter?", before heading into a crowded bar.

Shortly after, the woman walked into the bar, poured a bottle of petrol over Soriano and lit a match. She watched as the flames engulfed him, before walking out.

I have a hard time being angry with her.

That's one way to not have to rely on 12 strangers to decide a criminal's fate.

I dunno, I have mixed feelings.

But, I am wondering why no one is clamming for the people to let him out on a 3 day pass to be set on fire? Its only fair.

Sad but until someone sets fire to the people who let this scum out it will probably happen again

Good for her. He apparently was not rehabilitated, and he wasn't going to be. Later, dude.

I approve. He got what he had coming, and I hope the idiots who thought he should be let out of jail get theirs too.

Only you can prevent rapist fires.

I remember when this first happened... I think it was about 5 or 6 years ago, if I'm not mistaken. I thought it was one of the coolest things I'd heard about in a long time, and I still think so.

I have no problem with justice in the form of personal revenge, especially in a case like this. No problem at all. My personal feeling is that if someone rapes someone I love, by the time he finally dies, he'll be begging me to burn him to death just to get it over with. I'd prefer to kill him over a period of several days. Nothing's too barbaric for scum like this; he's not human anyway.

Soriano suffered 60 per cent burns in the attack on June 13 and was airlifted to a specialist unit. He survived for 11 days before succumbing to his injuries.

Ouch..
